Creative X-FI - Which one Are Getting?

Planning on getting the Fatal1ty FPS as soon as its available
but i hear they will be releasing the Pci-e versions of the sound card in the near future, will the Pci-e interface X-FI sounds cards be better than the PCI standard ones?

im going to go to pc world when they have them in and have a listen, see if they are as amazing sound quality as people say they are. and read a few more reviews, if they dont fix the crappyness of their drivers (installation and updating rather than performance) then i'l give it a miss

How much was the ZS on release? I vaguely remember that it was pretty costly too.

Anyway, I'll wait to see how well it performs for music. Way I understand, there are better card than the ZS for playing music. Which is unfortunate, since the ZS -is- a good gaming card. If the X-Fi can narrow the gaps, then I might be interested... when the price falls by 1/3rd

Edit: I doubt that the interface itself would affect the quality of the card. Sound cards are not likely to be taxing enough to -really- need PCI-E.
I would only consider it if I know the days motherboard support PCI is dated.

Hopefully all the audigy stuff will come down in price, my Live 1024 busted a while ago and I need a proper decent card without lots of cash being spent.

Well, the ZS can be found for 30-something on ebay. Thats half they cost even a few months ago when I shopped for one (decided not to go for it in the end).

Sound cards I believe can aid performance a sliiiiiight bit if you are using something more advanced like EAX... other than that you really have to be a true audiophile with kickass speakers to tell the difference in sound quality between the Xi-Fi ones and the current Audigy series.

Audigy 2 ZS OEM @ £35 for teh win

I am curious about the headphone out (since I am -thinking- of splashing on some mid-end headphones in the future). Supposingly, there is a bit of difference between the ZS and other Emu based card (or even the dirt-cheap-too-bad-can't-be-found-in-the-UK Chaintech 710).
