A sempron XP ???? I've been led to believe the Abit NF7 v2.0 was one of the best Socket A motherboards if you're willing to move away from Asus. I'm an Asus fan myself, but would have no problems going for Abit as they're a good brand too.
If not looking to get the maximum overclock possible then an Asus A7N8X-E Rev 2.0 is good. I have a xp2500 at 2.3ghz using this board. It has a good set of features including Soundstorm.
So the A7N8X-E Rev 2.0 is compatable with a Sempron 2500?
What about the Asus A7V600? If no good, what about:
Abit KV7-V Socket A

I had hell loads of problems with mine to begin with, but if you reflash the bios & use ALL up to date drivers (using an old sound driver somehow conflicts with SATA hard drives...) its an OK board. Don't expect to get much of an overclock at all out of it, I'm stuck to using multipliers because unless you use a FSB of 133, 166 or 200 you knock out the SATA controller.Abit KV7-V Socket A
If you want to run stock then it would be a perfectly good choice, mainly because its dirt cheap. But if you want to overclock, look for a cheap NF2 board like the Abit NF7.
I am not going to overclock as this board is not for me but i know that the person it is for does not overclock. Ta
Well the KV7 will make a perfect stock board mainly because its so cheap. But as I said, it is absolutely vital that you update every single bloody driver otherwise you will be plagued with problems. With everything updated, it runs perfectly smooth, as you'd expect from Abit.
Wow! I didin't realise quite how cheap it has gotten! I mean it was cheap when I bought it, but ebuyer now stock it for £24.42!
abit nf7s v2 enuff said best socket a board i owned.

I recommend both the Abit NF7S v2 and Asus A7N8X-E. Worked with them and I can say they are great Socket A boards. I don't recommend the Asus A7V600 though. I bought that board once and gave me loads of problems.

Great board, the A7N8X-E Rev.2......definitely a good option, if you can pick one up for good money

Any problems with this board with a sempron CPU?
No
Does it have the four mounting hole around the CPU (for large H/S's like the tt slk900)Originally Posted by philyau
