That sothsandra memory benchscore is 3486 on that one test with nothing running. The latest one I just did below shows SiSoftware Sandra sore. This test I was done with explorer runnning (no programs should be running to get a clear score) to give you and idear. So you can see with the high scores from a 800 fsb is it really running you that much faster in real life ???.My view is that the numbers don't lie, but do they equate to real time results in speed to your programs, and to me I have not seen the diff of a 8000 + memory bandwidth score that was posted and a 3400 + score get my drift!!!.Bottles are to hold liquid thats why they have a neck.So far all I seen is MotherBoard,s that people are buying are a bottle with liquids filled to the neck and the cap want come off to get the liquids out. But what do I no .

Take a look and see ... and not just the synthetic isolated RAM tests but in real applications. 800FSB along with 2xDDR400 makes a sizable diff over 533FSB with PC3200, Dual PC2100 or even the super expensive Rambus RDRAM. Plenty of other sites offer similar info, for example P4 2.8ghz with 800FSB can easily beat the P4 3.06ghz with 533FSB, that's before you o/c the 800FSB CPU too.

People pay for relatively small increases when it comes to PCs, that's just the way things have evolved ... at least with 800FSB you get true gains unlike ATA133 vs ATA100, AGP8x vs AGP4x and 256MB vs 128MB (gfx RAM). A lot of it has to do with future-proofing ... at least as best as we are able to.

Well all I can say is from what I,ve seen all it is from what I see is a numbers game at present time. ata133 or ata100 diff is null to me,beside matrox has a sothware program that will cache the info faster,it is in beta form now get it from matrox, but you haft to have a matrox HD. Nice chatting with you guys have a nice day, and what ever system you get vB Code just be happy you got one.

Dont forget good ole Muskin PC4000 and Corsairs new XMS Pro 4000 sticks. They are the best overclockers for the 865/875 boards. Plus they are pretty good at low latency for Nforce2 boards.

Muskin and Corsair's stuff is top notch but generally VERY pricey. With the price of RAM always up and down you may find a good deal or time to buy though.

Ive just run the same benchmark on the Abit IC7 MAX3 with the OCed 2.6 800 to 3.31:

    Assignment : 5437MB/s
    Scaling : 5437MB/s
    Addition : 5548MB/s

Very nice, performs way better than the system with rimms!

Practically anything based on the 865PE or 875P chipsets, preferably something shown to o/c very well. SiS and VIA seem to have good competition for the above Intel chipsets but are still largely unknown (esp o/c'ing). For the RAM I'd have to say Adata PC4000 with TwinMOS close behind.

Problem is that due to the locked multipler you're left with some guess work to do. 2.4C should get between 3.0ghz and 3.5ghz so respectively that would take between 4x250FSB (1000mhz with DDR @ 500mhz) and 4x292FSB (1168mhz with DDR @ 584mhz). The highest true spec for DDR is PC3200 (400mhz) while the absolute fastest (AFAIK) is PC4000 (500mhz) so you're really going to need to run the RAM async anyway, check what ratios your mobo offers.

    2x256MB Adata PC4000 500mhz CL3.0 £116
    2x256MB Adata PC3600 450mhz CL2.5 £78
    2x256MB TwinMOS PC3700 466mhz CL2.5 £106
    2x256MB TwinMOS PC3200 400mhz CL2.5 £68
    2x256MB Corsair PC3500 433mhz CL2.0 £140 (for comparison)

my vote goes for the ABit IC-7 (any one, but preferably the MAX3 )

Got mine purring along at 300Mhz FSB (1200 Mhz)
overclocked my 2.4C to 3.6Ghz at 1.55v on aircooling.

I am still in amazement since I just got the chip Friday & it keeps taking everything I have thrown at with out a hiccup.

Wow, that's amazing chrisf6969. I'd heard good things about those mobos partic MAX3 but 1200FSB & 2.4 @ 3.6ghz (with HT?) is truly amazing. JFMI what RAM are you packing with that?
