I beleve the PSU is a std ATX sized one, so i plan to swap it for a decent, quiet one.

No Point with resnet if thats what you're going through...

And as far as the system, its pretty much the same as everyone else, go with what you need it for now, dont blow all your budget on the system though, save a fair few quid for freshers week! Would say go for the X800GT or 6600GT though.

x800gt is a bit newer and probably has the edge over the 6600gt

So if i get the 256Mb Sapphire PCI-E ATI X800 GT GDDR3, for £104.45 then spend £30 on a Zalman ZM-80D-HP for it, which brings it upto £134.45

Or the 256Mb Gigabyte PCI-E GV RX80256D-X800 DDRIII Silent Heatpipe, for £124.83, which already had a heatpipe cooler.

Good find for that x800, its actually better than the x800gt but will ramp the budget up a bit.

There is a passive gigabyte 6600gt here for £105.59 if the x800 is too much

I might, but there are three PCI slot spaces to go at, as long as the NB/CPU dont get in the way, i think it should be fine.
    - I can always RMA it.

I would spend the extra to get more space on your harddrive. exta £10 now will stop you having to fork over again in a few months when your 80GB is groaning under the weight of all the junk you'll collect in it... ...Agree with Rohan - avoid the q-tec case - q-tec power supplies aren't worth the small saving they offer upfront (imho).

I would get an x800GT and get a nice TV card that gets digital freeview and plays under Win XP. That way you have a GPU AND TV on your PC....you'll be the favourite guy in your halls

    Yeah, i've heard that.
    - I *think* the that case supports full size ATX PSU, in which case i get somthing good, and quiet (seasonic maybe) or else i'll have to find another case?

    [edit]
In order this remains ontopic, ive started a uATX Case thread HERE

Agree, there are too much stuff out there on the internet that you want. But once you want it you can't be arsed to look at it. Because it is junk you don't want to waste your expensive dvds burning those junk, and of course made more waste to the environment.
