    Mid range A4 'photo' printer

Im planning to take the 'familys' Epson 880c to uni, and get a replacment printer to leave at home. The thing is what to get.

Ive done pit of poking around, and got fedup.
    - Why are the so many printers!!

Basicaly, the 880 is good enough, its just a bit slow when you whack up the quality, and the paper feed tray is a little borked, so its not ideal as a network printer, as you need tp keep an eye on it!
    - One of the main things is running cost, the 880's great as we run it on Jettec ink form the blankdiskshop, and a pair of cartarges lasts 2months.
    - So i was think of geting anther Epson so we can carry on doing this.

I just read this thread, what a waste. Im off to bed.

I know you said an Epson, but you really may want to consider the Canon IP4000. An excellent A4 photo printer. And it can also print onto cd's and can be had for about £80-90 at some places.

Can't recommend it enough, also takes seperate ink cartridges. And the photo quality is really good.

Just got the Canon ip1500 from staples for £25 (£35 at ebuyer.com) - cartridges are about £1.80 from ebuyer for colour or black - the model up - the ip2000 uses the same cartridges and is meant to be better than the ip1500 - they both do borderless A4 printing which is what I was after and the photo quality seems decent on mine and the software's very good (even has a quite mode that you can set to make the printer quieter between certain times eg 11pm - 9am)

The paper feeder seems better than the Epson 680 I've just replaced, and it seems much quicker (18ppm, vs 8ppm normal prints). Definitely check out the ip2000 (20ppm) £41 ebuyer.com : http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=73084 - if it's better than the ip1500, then it must be good / v good

Quoted for truth, Canon are the daddies, and no-one likes Epson.

I'd strongly recommend the Epson R200 - cartridges can be found for about £2 each online and the print quality is phenomenal. It also prints on CDs too, which is nice.

i find my epson c66 that i got for £42 inc delivery

and svp had some good deals on cartridges, like £8 for 2 sets not bad at all!

but i highly recommened print-rite compatible cartirdges as they have the best performance of any compatible ink cartridge i have ever tried!
