    ST20G5 & SUSE 9.3

Has anyone got SUSE 9.3 64bit working succesfully on a ST20G5?
I managed to get it installed but then it would boot to a black screen.
The only way around this was to disable the onchip USB and sound in the BIOS. But then obviously I have no way to control my USB ports or have any sound.

Also it would only detect my SATA HDD if I enabled SATA Raid in BIOS.
Anyone got any clue how to fix these probs?
    Thanks

I haven't used Suse 9.3 but I have installed Fedora Core 4 & Gentoo without problems. What version of firmware are you running on the ST20G5? There were a number of kernel settings which you need to add to Grub/Lilo such as noacpi I will see if I can dig them out and post them later.

The settings I used were "noapic acpi=off" and I was able to use all my USB devices. I still have the bios set SATA Raid Enabled and I havent had a chance to play with sound. I did find some information here though if its of use:

At the bottom of the page there are links to some 2.6 Kernel Drivers.

How did you get on with this? Using the information sent through has this helped get Suse up and running?

I've just started uni so I havent really had time to fully explore the things said. I need to uninstall alsa (comes preinstalled) and then install it using a download so I can get my sound working. I still have issue with USB though since the startup freezes if I have the onboard USB enabled. I hope to remove the SATA raid from bios using the SATA driver included in that website link provided. Hopefully with a little more time I will have it all up and running.
