Why do people insist on putting there monitors to the side of where they sit? all thats gonna happen is you will damage your neck?
Because my monitor is a good 2ft deep & weighs 31Kg. If I put it on my desk, the front of the screen would be slap-bang up against my face & the table would proabbly collapse under the weight. If I had a nice large LCD then yes, I would have it straight ahead on my desk, but because I use a CRT I can't do that with my current furniture. If I had a stronger desk, I could pull it away from the wall & have the back of the monitor hanging over the back of the desk like I did in halls last year;
http://host-cjd44.cs.st-andrews.ac.u...p_april_08.jpg
There the desk is a good 6" away from the wall, but even like that the front of the monitor was still too close. But that was a much stronger desk!
So I agree with you for a lot of people with LCDs at their sides, but when it comes to behemoth CRTs it's a compromise I have to make.
Sure, here you go.Quote:

Just sold mine :( 4 player Xmen which I\'ve had for about 10 years. Bought it for £250, sold it for £300. Had to sell for space reasons, and we needed the money.
You\'re arcade machine looks quite compact, though. Not taking up masses of room. NIce.
You can host the image at Imageshack (its where I have mine hosted that I post in forums) http://my.imageshack.us/registration/ free to use.

haha thanks webby
any suggest improvements>
new curtains for sure :P
photobucket is good too :)
It's good for storing all your pictures and if you sign in you can still see them, imageshacks one is less advanced imo, but good for just uploading pics randomly.
You can see all your pics in imageshack as well when you log in and it generates your IMG tags coz that is really hard work :P
Oh and you need a lampshade!
Yip its a jap style candy cab, Has quite alot of hard ware in it .. hehe all though we might be selling off c-macc's to make room for c-macc's 2.
Put it this way. Its cheeper to give them good PC's than rubbish ones. Less upgrades, Lasts a few years, Less fixing hassle, They get to play any thing and i don't have to worry about it not working. Last but not least they aint gonna complain about whos got the best cos its me lol ...Quote:
Wow your girls comptuer is more powerful than my gamer one! how come they have super PCs?
also is there anyway to upload my room? w/o putting it on a website?
:) oh and i get free mini lan parties with my kids as well lol
Nice thread! Anyways, herez my desk, nothing spectacular, but here goes:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...2112008162.jpg
a lot of people have a desk with jsut a computer on it (plus a lot of mess) where do you guys do school work etc? my desk literally has a screen and speakers with keyboard and mouse when im not doing school work!?
im at uni btw. but then i guess a lot of peopl ehere are working full time ;)
Lol you would think. No there aged 8 and 9 and my sons 11. The girls bedroom is being re decorated to some thing more suitable. The big problem with have is one of my daughters has asd and we have to be careful what colour we do it and how we change things around. If we do to much she goes a little mental and doesn't understand.
My Pc lol it was a joke mine is Just a AMD Xp 2000 Over clocked. But it does what i need it to do (just).
You use Safari :o its not even the best browser when you have a Mac let alone on Windoze!
Lol, I tunes is a compulsion due to ipod, I have IE, FF, Chrome and Safari...I use all of them, depends on my mood lol, but I meant, I do have safari installed, and itunes, so I think i can stick the apple logo on my PC, it came with the ipod, actually two logos, I didnt know where else to stick them...my car? :P
I have had an iPod mini for years, and still have the two apple logos in the box.
they aint getting any free advertisment out of me O.o
oh dont know if its worth starting another thread. but you guys have very good specced computers (mine is 3ghz P5, 1gb ram onboard GPU basically a Dell comp lol) what do you guys do on your computer that demands so much power? my more powerful pc is used to play the odd games, namely CoD?
the Dell i use is only for watching stuff i download, itunes and surfing the net with office for homeworks!
so what i want to know is what do you guys use the computer for?!
lol, i know its free advertisement, thats why I didnt stick em on mycar :P or anything like that, I just thot id would look good on the PC case :P it is a fashionable apple after all!
@vmong, my PC is not really a killer one, its fine...but as for having killer PC's its more of a passion thing, I would love one totally overkill build, if you start looking at practicality and use, its a huge waste I'd say, a couple of games every year dont warrant an overkill PC, which is going to be outdated after a couple of years at the most, but hey..passion is priceless
http://premium1.uploadit.org/g33k0iD//DSC01441.JPG
My desk in my upstairs office @ home as of 5 mins ago, complete with beard grooming shiz and my 3rd shot of Absinthe this eve... hence crapness of photography :)

2.4GHz MacBook, stock config. I do plan on upgrading the HDD sometime, to a 500GB one, and perhaps 4GB RAM in the future, but otherwise, that's my only PC until about the middle of next year when I want to build another PC again (hopefully Core i7 CPUs will be cheaper then too).
oid - you need to clean ya desk! where can you even move the mouse on that desk :D
will - nice clean setup, very sleeeeeek!
Thats cuz the mousing surface us underneath along with the keyboard :) I just use it to work prettymuch..
Nice setup William, clean and clear space :P
Thanks. :D
Love the clean and simple layout format. The little headphone stand thing could be considered a tad OCD and anal but I love it lol.
In my opinion looks like a clean and optimised workspace with all the essentials (including Stella)
Nice one.
Hehe, it's actually not a headphone stand - it a monitor wallmount, but once I installed it I realised my monitor had holes, but not screw holes in it... so I'm just waiting on finding some self threading screws :)
Thanks though :)
It actually looks quite nice without a stand on the monitor like that :)
Once I get a chance to clear up, I'll update with mine.
A clear up/putting stuff back in its place is in order.
I still haven't plugged my second monitor back in from when tiggs borrowed it for the lan :O
Yes Im EXTREMELY slack!
ahhh awesome setup in your living room man! i will show off my one in the living room when i have had the house extended lol! ohh you live in greenwich? you go to the uni there or just live there? also you know anything about over clockers etc? i have the system on the left of this post and think it can be over clocked. maybe meet up or something? i live in SE3.
man that 9800gtx must have cost you your left leg??
At the time, the video card cost me around £210.00, it can now be had for around £150.00. Which is a bit irritating, but there you go, usual story, really.
I just live here, lol, my twin daughters are at Uni ;)
My other, eldest daughter, is currently working as bar manager at The Princess Of Wales pub, that's the one that overlooks the pond in SE3, just outside the village.
On Saturday I'll be working on the sound system in Kidbrooke School, that's SE3 too.
I drink at The Cutty Sark pub, on the Riverside, mostly.
I'm probably older than you, lol
Look forward to seeing your pix.
ok this may sound freaky but your daughters are not Jo and Helen at Durham and Leeds are they??
haha if so i am the same age as them!
oh i posted my set up a few pages back. the only notable thing is that i have a 24" screen with a regular desktop a dell. but my other one is downstairs. not bad but a bit dated tbh.
Incredibly grainy phone camera photo of my desk.
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/8...0269ph5.th.jpg
Model M?
Thats really neat and tidy
How about the toilet :P
I'll post a new pic *if* I get around to tidying up a bit :embarrassed:
cannot see what little desk top I have for rubbish atm, then again I'm currently typeing this on my eeepc while sitting on the sofa next to a giant pile of victorian cloths/period costumes that my girl friend got at a big props sale at the weekend.
just tried a quick webcam shot but energy saving light bulbs and lots of black don't mix :(

Nice clean setup there, any chance you could re-size the pics? Cause even viewing them in 1920x1200 theres far too much side scrolling required. :)
Ah, my "workspace" : or the mess, anyway!

Need more room - which in turn means a bigger flat/house! :D
I don't know, i bought it second hand off some guy on a website called GunTree, my room is small and this table is literally THE BEST ONE i could have asked for. i has a similar one but smaller actual work space. it cost me £35 and took like 3 months of constantly checking ebay and gum tree to find.
its not branded or anything either. sorry :embarrassed:
Blimey, that was a quick reply! :D
No probs, I've had a look on Ikea, Argos and Tesco Direct and can't see anything like it. Shame really, looks ideal...
If you've a bit of time, see if you can find a bigger desk from somewhere - closing down offices may be a good start (and, unfortunately for them but good for us) plenty of them around - chop them up, acquire some legs from a DIY store and you're happy :D Had to do something similar in the last flat as it was even smaller and the small desks you get from the likes of Argos with all them useless shelves and stuff between your legs get on my nerves, as well as being about as sturdy as a drunk priest that's stumbled into a kindergarten.
My corner desk was a great find, just moved into the new flat about 9 months ago, took a load of the crap to the tip (carpet offcuts and the likes) and the bloke in front of us pulled over to the bit where you can offload your crap to sell back to the public. Out the back of his huge, brand new lexus 4x4 thing pulled this desk, carefully dismantled with the screws attached to the side.
"Chucking that, mate?"
"Yup - you want it?"
"Oooh, yes please!"
In a brand new, mint condition. Right place, right time :D
why do people have CD/DVD boxes?? should just put them into one big old CD case lol the ones without the box and just have the disc.
i do think you need a bigger desk! but i dont have that much computing related stuff in my room. its more of a hobby as opposed to a job related thing.
i have spend so much money on computers stuff over the last two years lol and im still in education!
Hiya,
Finally setup my Shuttle SD31P, had it sitting in the corner for over nearly a year, also got a replacement tft from Dell, so thought time for a picture update :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/...e9bec7df56.jpg
sorry about the quality, used camera on mobile.
Just replaced my IBM P275 with a Dell 2007WFP & my NEC LCD1760VM with a Samsung 2043NWX. Because I no longer have a 2' deep 68lb CRT to deal with, I'm going to be completely rearranging my room, but I'm doing the sensible thing & waiting until my university exams are over in 5 days time before I start, so this is the temporary setup until then.

It that a jackson I see?
It is indeed :D
On the wall are a Freshman FA1AWR Electro-Acoustic, an ESP-LTD EC-1000 (:D) and the Jackson DXMG, all lovely.
The Jackson is the nicest to play I'd say, despite the EC1k costing about twice as much, it does look far cooler though! But I find it harder to play, 'cause of the bridge - c'est la vie!
It's nice that it's the guitars that you've picked up on!
Lol well computers are common to all of us.. else we wouldn't be here, I like to look at the more interesting things like guitars, or chairs or.. walls.. :D
I have almost bought a DKMGT on various occasions but can never bring myself to do it. My Ibanez has a floyd so I thought that jackson would make things a bit different but I'm yet to buy one.
That and my Maverick Species does everything the Nez doesn't so I'm on the look out for something totally different. A tele maybe.
