Not bad at all - I've just hit a TB on one PC :P

I'm a STUDENT - I can barely afford to eat, let alone buy all the gear I want!Quote:

As am I, which was why I mentioned it :P - I was just surprised at the number of PCs, though I'd be tempted to ditch the CRTs and get a set of KVMs? Really depends on the sort of work you are doing, however :)
Nice workspace though - I find I never have enough room on my desktop :(
You guys just made me think of what im gonna do at UNI... how am i gonna get space :(
Meh its a long way, i suppose i said that when i was 8. I thought i would never do GCSE's now im writing Essay's all the time :(
I could take a pic of my workplace but the pc is well bare (Mobo all packed up for RMA :() but you could see the amount of Choc Milk and Apples on my desk.
I do have a 2-port KVM back at home, but only really needed that when I was running on JUST the TFTs, & no CRTs. Firstly the smaller CRT on the left is just for my Dreamcast, no PCs. The TFTs are both hooked into my 2k workstation on the floor. The 17" CRT in the corner is for my media machine. The 2 grey machines on the floor run headless. So I honestly don't really need to use the KVM now that I have space for the CRTs! (that were both free of course).Quote:

That's why I went to the local furniture recycling place & got the second desk! I was forced into building a 'wall' of monitors when I was stuck with just the one desk, & had no space to work!Quote:

*Why is there no post delete button?*
i don't understand why people don't have kvm's the money they would save in electricity bills alone would pay for it
my setup with my new 2007WFP, highly recommended to all.

Haha, i know, took me two christmass presents worth just to get my pair of Sm940#'s.
- And the computer itself cost my £200 three years ago, plus psu.
Daniel
Very tidy ATM :)

It actually looks a lot more expensive than it is. I had most of the stuff before I came (none of the my machines are less than 5 years old), & both of the CRTs I got free whilst I was over here. Only gear I've actually bought since I got here is the laser printer (HP LJ4M+, £35 ebay) the FM tuner (£20 ebay) & the VGA adapter for the Dreamcast (£15 ebay). I could really do with a new rig this year, but I've really gotta learn to drive & buy a car instead.Quote:
uni?!?! WTF kinda crazy grant are you on? Or did mummy and daddy buy it all?
Hey MRK
I use cobweb solutions for one of my web pages! We have had a problem with since you migrated us to a new server.
Just thought I'd post a better picture as I have just tidied up a bit.

ill post a pic of my PC on here when i get it onto a desk and my mouse/keyboard and other stuff arrives :)
I've moved house so I thought it was time to post up some new images of my setup.

Its changed quite a bit from last time from left to right.
PC: MiniITX based pc with a Intel Core Duo 2.0ghz chip 2gb of DDR2 a ATI x800 GTO2 320GB sata drive and DL DVD writer. A great little system.
Monitor: Dell 2007FP lcd
HDD: 2x 500gb Drives in a g5 style firewire enclosure. Hooked upto the mini next to it.
Apple 1: Apple Mac Mini with Intel Core Duo 1.83ghz, 1gb DDR2, 80GB hdd, and a superdrive.
Apple 2: Apple Macbook Pro 15.4in 2.0Ghz Core Duo ,2gb of DDR2, 100gb HDD, ATI x1600 256mb graphics.
Console: XBox 360 premium.
TV: 17in LG tft.
There is another mini (g4 one) on the other side of the room which is my girlfriends machine.
gordy, your setup looks well 1337! invite me round pleeeease :D
Gordy,
is that the Logitech MX revoloution mouse you have?
and btw, love the setup!
Yeah its the mx rev, personally I think its not worth the money, I certainly wouldn't recommend it at the moment as the drivers are terrible or non existent depending on what os you are running.
I'd go for another mx1000 I still have mine and the battery life is far longer than the rev. And the driver support in vista for the rev, well there aren't any.
Even in xp you really need to install something called uberoptions to even use half of the rev's capabilities.
I'd wait a few months for the vista drivers to be fully released if you can.
The only reason I've not switched back to the mx1000 is that its now on my macbook pro and I find the rev slightly more comfortable.
Nooooooo No.72!
You don't use a £50 razer copperhead mouse on a barclays mouse mat, what were you thinking? hehe
Dan
what are the copperheads like? mine will be arriving tommorow hopefully :D
:p I know it's bad, but I can't justify spending £20 on a mouse mat. I need to steal on from some whare, by that I mean get my mum to get a black one from work.
mini-itx.com is a favourite :)
top notch camera work and editing, top notch pc too:mrgreen:
Here's mine
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...tin/office.jpg
I have more computer equipment but no space really in here to place it. The speakers will end up somewhere else then i'll get more deskspace for laptop/extra monitor etc.
Synergy sounds very good, it could come in handy :)

Dan[/QUOTE]
Heh, I just bought a Razer Krait, & I'm using a piece of paper blu-tac'ed to the desk, 'cause the wood grain of the veneer will scratch the pads on the bottom, yet I can't find a single freebie mousemat in the entire flat!
http://nicksmith182.freesitehoster.com/mypc.PNG
heres a pic of my PC set up....ignore the monitor....concentrate on the G15 and mouse :D
nick you picture dont work
chr.. what mouse pad is that? it looks very nice. And ohhh... the so expensive surround speakers i presume lol
hm....ill try and get one in smaller file size so i can upload it to imageshack or something
edit: should work....

Hurts my eyes just looking at the picture!
love that music setup, basic but good layout
i imagine how much power those crts consume
mines getting upgraded to 3 x HannsG 19's on an Ergonomic Triple stand, when i can afford it! :)
Been a while since I updated my pics here.
I moved the shuttle upstairs and I am now using the laptop for recording from my decks.
So here are the current pics :
http://www.gary-scott.co.uk/gallery2...serialNumber=2
My 'other' work set up. :) :
http://www.gary-scott.co.uk/gallery2...serialNumber=2
I just replaced those rather rubbish decks with... :
http://www.gary-scott.co.uk/gallery2...serialNumber=2
Mmmmmm Technics 1210 mk 5's, I don't expect most of the posters here to know what these are but these are the Rolls Royce of decks. I also picked up a DJM 600 mixer, which is a fantastic bit of kit.
My Shuttle now resides upstairs for viewing downloaded content, I need to update this pic really as I have ita bit tidier than that now :
http://www.gary-scott.co.uk/gallery2...serialNumber=1
Heh Gaz, yes I do know what the 1210s are like - even tried using a set (I was crap) :P
I wouldn't call myself a DJ either, I am just a bedroom DJ really. The 1210's are so superior to my old direct drives its unreal, loads of torque, record just leaps off when you let go.
2 monitors hooked up to my dual DVI X1900 XT and the other hooked up to DVI on a PCI 9250.
Yeah, sounds fair enough! I only see them from a purely techy point of view at our union, where i i work.
- Other than plug them in, carry them about i dont use them at all.
- Im far more interested in the rigging side of running the union, and running the lighting.
Daniel
lmao! awwww i never thought of it like that. Anyway, should i get a dark table and my pc on a bright colour or a light table and a dark pc?
CRTs have one major advantage over LCDs - you can get them for FREE. I simply mentioned it in passing to a friend in a lecture, & 15 minutes later I was lugging both a 14" & 17" back into my room.Quote:
(laughs at beige packerd bell crt)
(They're only for my media machine & my Dreamcast respectively, I have dual 15" LG Flatrons on my workstation & a MacBook in terms of LCDs - I'll be taking some new shots once the laptop turns up from it's Sahghai->Amsterdam venture).
CRT's are big though, i used to have 3 on my desk. Now i've only got 1x17" CRT and 1x17" LCD as i cant afford another:D
always wanted 1210's just can't afford them. Love how smooth their Direct Drive system is.
Pretty much got my setup how I want it now - everything connected! :)

Is that a spaceman's helmet?. :D
That is a very nice room indeed, wouldn't mind having it myself tbh ;)
jbl base unit :)
yeah JBL Creature II's
Ive always liked the look of those samsung TVs.. there like 600 quid yer?
depends on the size, the 32's can be had for about that much, 37's are ~750 i think :)
799.99 for the 40 inch :D
32inch is plenty for me :)
edit: O yer Nick F, i really like the set up :D
i bet all that ikea stuff cost a bomb;)
My Samsung LCD was £1,100 about 5 months ago. I didn't know they had dropped in price that much!
Not really, it's our first place so funds were limited at the start as we had to buy everything. Sometimes he does feel like I'm sitting in an Ikea showroom but it's all good.Quote:

It looks a brilliant room to be in though, regardless of who makes the furniture :D
New MacBook arrived on Monday, time for some new shots of my uni room - it's not as pretty as it used to be, but it's far more practical with the gear switched round (right->left & vice-versa).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../left-desk.jpg
MacBook on the left (1.83GHz C2D, 1GB), Win2kPro workstation on the right (XP-M 2400+, 512MB, 5900) connected to dual 15" LG Flatrons, a Saitek Eclipse & a Razer Krait, & a headless Win2kPro ICS box on the floor (750MHz Athlon) plugged into the little black 5-port switch. Black Logitech speakers are plugged into the workstation & really only get used for a but of NWN every now & then.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...right-desk.jpg
Shuttle is my Linux media machine (XP1700+, 512MB) with an external hard drive on top (320GB Barracuda 7200.10) plugged in to the 17" CRT (left) with the Dremacast plugged into the 14" CRT (right). Printer on the floor is a HP LJ 4 M Plus, speakers are Sony yellowcones from a couple years back. Silver boxes contain optical disks, bottom for CDs, top for DVDs. Couple of blank CDs, DVDs & MD (in pwitty colours), spare toner cartridge, DC games.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...2007/hi-fi.jpg
Aurex SB-A10 amplifiers (top connected to the yellowcones, bottom waiting for a new set of speakers), Sansui tuner (good ol' Radio 4). Shuttle plugs into the top amp obviously.
Wow, you have a mental amount of computers in such a small space!
How can a student have all that stuff? mehhh
I haven't had the heating on since I got here in September.Quote:
Wow, you have a mental amount of computers in such a small space!
Well you've got to consider how old the stuff is; my workstation is at least 3 years old, media machine another year on top of that, both CRTs were free, printer was £10.58 on ebay (best £10.58 I ever spent!). It may look like a lot, well it is a lot, but by current measures it's mostly out-of-date, apart from the MacBook which I had to buy out of my savings because my ThinkPad died & I can't get by without a laptop. I don't tend to throw out old hardware when I upgrade, so I tend to amass rather a bit - I've got an old 500MHz K6-2 box under the bed, heaven knows what I'm going to do with it...Quote:

Right, bout time I updated my setup :)
Going left to right:
5.1 Reciever/5DVD Changer, Phillishave Coolskin Razor (on charge, otherwise it would be elsewhere) Left Speakers (One for Surround Sound Set, one for Laptop 2.1 set) Laptop (Specs in My System) K800i in the middle, with my Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard below. Mousemat is an Icemat V2, with a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and HP ball mouse on it. Between the laptop and TFT is a Logitech desktop mic - the best £12 mic I've bought (saying that, its the only one I've bought) TFT on the right is a LG 1715S, had absolutely ages, still going strong. K750i between the monitor and mousemat, tis my spare phone from last years contract. Belkin USB2 Hub and MX1000 can be seen, then Right speakers, same arangement as the other side :) Centre Speaker can also be seen, 160W makes a lot of difference in some movies :)
PCs on the floor, left is going to be a smoothwall box for the house next year (new Uni House), the one in the middle right is currently running the Windows Home Server Beta (USB extension lead incredibly handy for USB pen drives, no more reaching round the back :)), and the right one is my main desktop.
Smoothwall box - P3 500, 192mb RAM, 10gb Hard Disk, 10x (woah, the speed of it) CD-ROM. (not connected, yet)
WHS Beta Box - Athlon 2000+, 512mb RAM, Radeon 7500, 80gb SpinPoint, DVD/CD-RW drives.
Main Rig - Athlon 3200+ 1.5gb RAM, NF7Sv2 (legendary board) just under a TB in assorted drives, DVD-RW, 6800GT.
(both run through a KVM)
Close up of my main rig, with the IcyBox sitting on top, and then the 220w Sub thats part of my Surround Sound set. k800i box and random crap an optional extra :D
And in case it looked far too tidy to be possible, that's some of the wiring that connects it all up, the rest is hidden down the back of the desk :) Also shows the WGPS606 that connects all of these machines to the network, and provides 100mb links between them (soo much faster than 54g). Absolutely brilliant little box.
I'll be back with an even more impressive set of photos when I move into my new Uni house in September :)

What are those Mission Speakers? they look pretty nice?

Heh, I have that same Time box as my ICS. Just the case mind, it's got an Athlon 750 system in it (friend was throwing out the case & I caught it).
Yep i had that PACKARD Bell AGGGGES ago
Here's my setup.....

What mousemat is that? I'm thinking of getting a new one (Icemat is great, but only likes one of the three mice I use)
nevermind
u need to upload them to www.tinypic.com, www.xs.to, www.imageshack.us or somewhere link that :)
