    120mm silent case fans wanted

    Looking for some help with the above, i need a few case fans(might need filters to match) for a file server that i am putting together, so no need of any neon lights just silence also it will be sited in the attic so whats the opinion of filters for the fans?

    Depends on your case. 120mm fans are going to give the best trade-off between cooling and noise, but if they don't fit then that doesn't do a lot for you. SilenX are the quietest fans around, but are expensive and hard to get hold of.

    Dust filters are a good idea, and can be had from kustompcs. Why do the fans need to be quiet if its in the attic? anyway, there are a couple of manufacturers offering dust proof (bearings) fans at the moment and i believe these are available at kustompcs.

    I plumped for the Akasa Amber series fans, only a tenner each which is half the price of the SilenX ones and they are rated at only 22dB which is quiet enough for most (especially quiet enough for the attic) and they shift enough air.

    As for dust filters, not really my thing. The ones that came with the case are good enough for me.
