looks like you can replace the chipset fan without the pcie cards getting in the way, BUT you loose the x4 connecotr when running SLI

And looking at it a bit longer, i think the memory and cpu have moved? I may open my case later to check, or tomorrow, or next year or something...

its in between the two x16 slots - with the bridge, doesn't this mean you cannot connect another device in there? or am I showing my ignorance and the bridge will just go 'over' the device in there fine.

If I wanted to plug, say, a RAID card into a PCIx16 slot, even though it only needed 1 or 4, would that still work? Thinking of getting an SLI board even though I have no intention of getting SLI, just for the extra PCI capacity.

It's looks the badger's nadgers. Placement of everything outside the PCIe slots looks absolutely optimum. Is there something about PCIe that forces the x16 slots to be on the outside?

No need, I think the SLI edition give you the bridge and a chipset thats SLI capable - you'll still get 20 lanes either way.

Nope, look at the DFI SLI-D/SLI-DR, the x4 is outside. That was the only reason I picked it over the ASUS. That said, I am over the moon with it, a great board. The asus premium tho - a friends just got and that heatpipe is great
