OK - Play an MP3 ... no errors? Does the control panel show the VU meters moving?

Do the speakers work on another source?

Are you sure you have checked all the sound properties carefully and made sure that the sound is actualy 'up', remember you need the 'wave' volume up as well as the master volume.

ok thanks for the help guys

Downloaded an mp3 played it via media player "No error's"
and the VU meter in soundstorm is moving only "right and left"
The speakers are working and havent got problems
and yes the wave volume is up

the only other time ive had this problem is when i had a asus a7n8x the connector's on the mobo were infact shorting on the case and not giving sound, a well known problem with the asus mobo! anyone heard of this sort of thing with shuttle system's

    jack

ps while i was in a mad rush trying to get the system up and running im sure the sound was working!
