Hmm interesting - a CF to IDE converter

The second 1 down (cfidefdd). You can use a compact flash card as a hard drive, bootable and all. So what would it be like if you used say a 4gb CF card? Would windows and games boot super quickly and be really stable? No slowing down while the HD has to load new textures etc. That could be interesting.

looks good , not sure what sized compact flash cards you can get atm - 256mb or 512mb i guess is the max.. my friend has an integrated solution thing, and it has a 4gb harddrive which is solidstate. so damned tiny , just havent got the thing working yet as it needs an isa slot .

you can only format it with FAT32 iirc though, also a 4gig CF costs uber wonger :/

IBM Microdrives are cheaper, although not solid state.

It'd be slower than a hard drive, even if you used the fastest 40x CF cards, i looked into it recently as i was going to do it, booting the OS on an HTPC.

4gig costs around £1k, so yeah only if money is no object are you going to do this.
