n00b question

hey guys!

To some this is probs going 2 be a hell of a n00b questions but if i wanted 2 copy a dvd film, i would need a dvd writer and a dvd rom! Would'nt I or would it needed to b encoded?

If it needs to be encoded could one please explain encoding?

no you need a dvd ripper only since the ripper is also a player.. put the dvd in the ripper and use a prog to rip the full dvd to HDD and then rip the dvd to the dvdwriter/disk..

yeah but i was wondering if u can do it the same way u can with a Cd Writer and a CD ROM! Just copy the disc without ripping it to the hard drive?
