Cool Setting up Shuttle SN25P AMD Socket 939 Barebone with RAID 0 - Help!

    Hi there all

I'm new aw setting these up with a raid 0 configuration, but I have my parts all picked out, and you can see them here

    http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/...huttle+Monster

Essentially its the barebone system and two western digital 250 gb sata drives.

So, how might one set this up in a RAID 0 configuration were one so inclined? (and I am ha ha)

    Thanks!

    John

This assumes you are running Win XP:

    1) Build the system with a floppy in the bottom bay and the two SATA drives in the top bays. You should replace the SATA data cables since the ones provided suck big time.

    2) Set up the BIOS as you normally would. Make sure you enable RAID on SATA 1, and make sure SATA 1 is enabled.

    3) Set the CD-ROM as the boot drive.

    4) Put the nVidia driver floppy disk in the floppy drive.

    5) Put the Win XP CD in the CD-ROM drive.

    6) Boot the system and hit F10 to enter the SATA RAID BIOS.

    7) Build the array. Make sure you choose stripe. Also, don't leave until you make the array bootable. (Hit the B key)

    8) Hit Ctl-X to exit, and delete key to re-enter main BIOS.

    9) Check to see that the array is the primary boot hard drive.

    10) Boot the CD-ROM. Hit F6 key when prompted.

    11) Choose both drivers (SATA and RAID for XP, one at a time).

    12) Continue loading Windows as usual. When you create and format the partition you should see one 500GB drive. If you see 2 250GB drives the RAID array is not being recognized by Windows.

    Hi again

I'm almost all set up, but when I setup windows and press f6, I think the system cant see the floppy drive. the strange thing is that in the BIOS it lists the floppy in the list of devices...

    (Drive A [1.44M, 3.5in)

Is there another way to load the raid drivers... also what gives with the floppy?

You were right about the graphics card, too! it was a right fit, but it works

    Hi again

Well, the damn thing has been fine for months, but started slowing down.. so i decided to reformat... and jacked the whole thing (it was all backed up at least)

I can't get the striped raid array to work any more. After windows is installed, and reboots for the first time, it just continually reboots itself.

So, now im trying to disable RAID and just use one of th drives as my system drive, and I'll install all the software on the other.

    pain in the A$$!!!!!!!!!!!
