    What did you scratch?
    If you scratched the back of the motherboard then... uh-oh...

    Might be worth running a burn-in test if you plan to carrying on using the system to check stability!

    well someone on extremeoverclocking forums said that motherboards are made of many layers, and that it should work fine .

    I cant freaking afford a new MB!!!

    damnit.

    PC burn-in test basically stress tests the PC. If it can complete the test then the PC is gonna be 99% stable.

    Check out the diagnostics section on the www.majorgeeks.com webstie. You should be able to find a freeware stress tester.

    I think Prime95 software is the industry standard for stress testing...

    You could download the UBCD... contains Prime95, Memtest, and a few other useful utilities.

    Considering the scratch is near the RAM slots and it worked in dual before then i'd say you've toasted the motherboard... sorry dude.
    Stress test it and use it in single channel and/or get a new motherboard, not what you wanted to hear i know but there is not alot you can do... (unless you can blag it under the warranty)
