THANKS kempez815 .... at least some does no wot i am talking about..
yea the cs2 just sucks everything you put bridge on then run CS2 then next Image Ready..

even worse when on the net.. it will be worth the x2 duel core just for destroying cs2..

Wow, the grammer and general use of the English language in this thread really is abysmal!
Please write in full english, it makes the place so much user-friendly and neater.

    Anyway.

Yes, I think you should go dual-core. It really does seem to be showing it's benefit, and I think that anyone with the available funds who is building a new system should at least have a very close look at it.

You just need to look at some decent "real - scenario" benchies to see what I'm talking about. (E.g. CustomPC type).

I currently have a 3700+ SD which is running at 2.835 GHz

Just bought a 3800+ X2 to go into a HTPC I'm building so I'll report back with what I obtain in terms or performance results, although sounds like I may be a bit late. LOL

That sentence is fine, it is finished. But let's not turn to a flame war here.
My 3700 does not clock quite as well as yours, tfboy, but I will be interested to see how well your dual core clocks!

    Keep us posted!

    Will do.

Will try and build the system this evening. Just got an Abit A8N-E nf4 mobo to stick the X2 on. If I have time, I'll try in my main system which has the faster OCZ RAM which I know will take some stupid high HT speed (can't remember off the top of my head) and retain a decent divider.

You may think I'm crazy spending out a fair wadge of cash on a dual core CPU if it's only for watching DVDs, but if you get into post-processing and upscaling to HD with noise reduction and sharpening, you need all the arithmetic power you can harness

Hmm well, I've decided to keep the X2 on my desktop machine. I haven't played around much with it - it's running at 2.5GHz at the moment.

Initial OCing shows it won't go as high as my SD and considering the CPU usage in my HTPC is mainly single-process, I don't see any real benefit of puting the dual-core in there when I can probably get better performance out of the higher-clocked single-core SD.

Although I do have a weird problem with the new Asus A8N-E mobo: it doesn't seem to like any FSB above about 220MHz. I've lowered the CPU multi, lowered the HTT to 3x and lowered the ram to 200MHz and no joy. Even more bizarre, when I do get it booting properly (highest I can get to is about 220), then CPU-Z reports a speed of only 200MHz although on my main desktop machine (see specs on left) CPU-Z is happily reporting 250MHz FSB

Will play more over the weekend, but initial impressions are that the X2 will be worth it once properly set up. It already seems speedier folding and multitasking
