    CPU fan: I know P4's are cool but SURELY it should be on

    Got me the ex-works MSI Hermes here......Tarinder reviewed it a few weeks ago.

    Just building, booted,set up BIOS etc...

    noticed: CPU Fan.....0 rpm

    Look inside case.....definately not spinning....

    power off.....plug another fan onto the header.....boot up again...that doesn't spin either

    Please tell me: are these little cases only supposed to power up the fan when its at 7million degrees centigrade.....or is the cpu fan header knckered?

    its OK to look at...I got beige ..black would be better.

    Its a NOISY BITCH....the highest revving squealer I have EVER had the misfortune of building..its DEAFENING

    So I have re soldered the fan wires the the RED and BLACK instead....think thats 6 or 7 volts......I know it will run hotter but thats just life....there is NO WAY it would be used with the fan doing 10,000rpm.....its a tiny thing.......and it SQUEALS

    Gotta find drivers for it now......no disk with it, so no LAN, so no broadband at my house (Cable set top box)

    Installed OK otherwise tho....2 gig P4

    What is NORMAL TEMP for one of those? Default speeds....its got PC270 in it, but I gues its running 100 fsb, quad pumped.

    BIOS is pretty basic, no overlclock that I can see on FSB options.

    But its got LOADS of connectivity......swhy I got it.......
