    A8N-SLI Deluxe no boot/post

    Hey everyone,
Was doing some overclocking an a system:
    Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
    X800GTO2 @ 16pipes
    2 x 512MB Corsair XMS
    AMD X2 3800+
    Asetek H2O kit (10mm ID, 1 x 120mm rad)

    I had it running fine:
    250HTT x 10 = 2.5GHz
    LDT x 3
    Vcore = 1.5
    333 Memerory speed (5:6?) for ~400MHz DDR,
    3-4-4-8 1T.
    VDimm 2.8V

I thought I would try and get the timings a bit tighter, so I went to 2-3-3-8, and then I received a verbal warning from my motherboard - "You have a memory problem" or something like that. So I tried to reset bios - plug out from the back, battery out, Cmos jumper over, wait, back again, battery back in, power on ->

No response. Drives power up, fans spin, but no beeps, post, bios, anything.

I get nothing out of the PC. I've tried resetting the bios in every way possible, checked all plugs, power.

If I take the memory out I get a response from the board about no memory, but that's it. Put memory back in - nothing...

Any ideas? I'm going to try and get some more mem to test it out with.

Have you tried pressing and holding the insert key while the systems just powered on?

I find this resets the BIOS easier than fiddling with the jumpers etc.

Does not bode well, only thing left to try is to disconnect mains to psu, psu to mobo, take out mobo battery and leave for hour. Will keep fingers crossed.

AFAIK this only works with PS/2 keyboards on most motherboards.

Well I think it more depends on the motherboard and BIOS rather than keyboard.. Mine doesn't work, but my friends does on his newish machine.

It would be nice to see how EFI boards deal with this kinda thing.. Hopefully we wont be waiting too long.

Well, I'm onto my third A8N Deluxe ed. First was like that, RMAd it, got the second, worked fine for a year, then changed the chipset fan and it went like that, it was a short, but I ended up having to get a new board (sensible thing to do really, else it would have caused more problems), and it was exactly as you've described. Got all the beeps and voice until everything was in, then it just didn't POST.

So doesn't sound good, but try changing the memory config, try with one stick etc.

    I got it working

Removed everything from the PC that wasn't needed - 1 dimm only, no HDD's, PCI Cards, Optical, etc etc, got into bios and set everything back to where it should be.

But I plugged everything back in and it's fine! Grrr.... don't know what caused it, but the PC is stable as anything 3800+ X2 @ 2500MHz...
