Had my current system since September last year, an A8N-SLI Premium motherboard with paired TWINX2048-3200C2 modules in slots A1+B1 (as per manual).
Recently bought a couple more identical modules to populate the other 2 slots, but when installed the system spews out the recorded message "system memory error" over and over and refuses to even give the graphics card BIOS message.
Ruling out faulty memory, I swapped my original 2 sticks with new ones - booted fine.
Updated the BIOS to 1009 - still won't start up with all slots populated.
Tried populating slots A1+B1+B2 - POST screen reads 1GB installed, BIOS screen says 3GB installed, and Windows says ACPI error and refuses to start.
Tried populating A1+B2+A2 - "system memory error" once more.
According to the manual, all 3 1024MB module manufacturers on the "DDR400 Qualified Vendors List" are listed as NOT supporting 4 modules in dual channel mode, and at the end of the same table they ARE listed as supporting it.
Good, eh?
The reason I went for the Corsair TWINX2048 memory is because it was on this compatibility table.
So, on the off-chance, has anyone managed to install 2 lots of paired 2GB Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 modules in an Asus A8N-SLI Premium motherboard successfully?
Alternatively, if you have 4GB of memory of another type in the same motherboard, can you reply here please?
