Have replied to this once but it went astray, Here we go again:
Using Add/Remove Hardware and looking at the list I suspect the potentially b**********ded USB2 card is the NEC PCI to USB open host controller.

this is probably really stupid, but have you tried plugging in the hub after windows has loaded?
nope its most certainly thereOriginally Posted by Lobro
Yes, the only way I can work at the moment is plugging in the input from the PCI card after booting up windows. My worry is that all this plugging and unplugging will wear out the pins on the plug or socket.
What I really want is to delay the calling of the hub in the switch-on sequence and then automatically load my e-mail software (Pegasus) so that this will bleep me if there is any mail waiting. I just don't know where to go to arrange all this.

Good idea. It's worked OK twice so far. Thanks a bunch. Bit of a fiddle though so could you tell me how to get at that boot-up sequencs. I notice that iolo 'system mechanic' is supposed to allow speeding up Start Up through letting us decide which progs should be run. But that costs GBP30 so I wonder if it's worth it?
