    What £1200 laptop??

A friend at work is after a laptop, his wife just dropped a sprog so she wants to do some online shopping from the comfort of her armchair. But secretly he wants to play games as well, and modern ones at that. So the requirement is laptop that can play games, wireless connectivity and a budget of £1200. Wireless could be added later if necessary, as a hidden cost. Is Doom III an option on a £1200 laptop?

    Thanks for your help

this should be good enuf, gfx is most important imo, and only really the 9600np/pro will be capable of doom3, for a laptop.

    mobility 9600np/pro
    512mb ram
    ~1.5-2ghz amd cpu

this might eat batterys, but most ppl use laptops pluged into wall anyway...

pcworld *had* some ones for £500-700 that i would have considered, but they might be gone now

    GET THAT LIDL ONE!!

It was awsome and well worth the £999 price tag as it had EVERYTHING.

Seriously, i was shopping about for laptops about 3 months back - PC world are almost unbeatable on most of them supprisingly.
When you factor in that if it go's wrong you can get to the store easiler than sending it away, they were my first choice.

My sister is being tempted by the laptops at PC world at the moment. Mainly the ultra compact Samsung X05 and X10's
The X05 is a P4 1400Mhz Centrino....so it has wireless(802.11b) and its prettly light too... from memory it even has a 4 hour battery life.
