    SATAII and PATA

    Hi all,

I'm gradually running out of disk space so I think it's time to splash out on a new disk.

My current setup is with the Abit Fatal1ty AN8 (939) motherboard which supports SATAII

However, for one reason and another my first (and current) drive was a Seagate Barracuda 250gb PATA. Ideally I don't want to re-install windows so would like to keep this as my primary drive. However, I would rather buy a new SATAII drive because a. they're faster b. compatible for longer.

Will I have any problems adding a new Samsung 250GB SATAII drive as a secondary drive to my current PATA? Obviously I'll be ignoring RAID.
Will I need to change the BIOS boot order?

    Thanks

    e

No & no assuming that you aren't loading an OS on the SATA to use as your primary boot drive (which you said you weren't)
