nf7-s revision 1.2, latest drivers, 5.1 options not working (satellites not functioning when the control panel says they are)

5.1 options are also unavailable in Powerdvd...this is apparently a clash with windows 2000 Pro, according to their website

Set of logitech 640s being used, the satellites do work, the "test tone" roduces sound from them.

Any advice gratefully appreciated
