    AMD Turion CPU's?

I want to upgrade my HP notebok, it's currently a 1.6GHz AMD 64 Turion. Unlike previous notebooks that had a convenient panel on the underside to swap the CPU out, upgrading this requires removing the keyboard and a few extras. However, that's not the problem, it looks quite simple. The problem is... where do I get a new 2.2GHz Turion CPU?

I've looked at various retailers and the general feeling I'm getting is they're not available for retail, is there a specific reason for this?

You'll often find them under the "AMD Mobile" brand - http://www.eclipse-computers.com/pro...cat=74&brand=7

You can defo buy them retail
Ebay also has a few at reasonable prices.

edit - ooooooh, X2 Turions are out . Didnt know that

They are still listed as socket 754 on the eclipse site, so thats the same socket (and it cant support DDR2 AFAIK).
Of course, if the eclipse site is wrong, then your probably right as i wasnt even aware they were released
