    Question P4C Max Safe Voltage?

My buddy is building a new P4 monster. His specs are going to be something along the lines of Abit IC7-Max 3, P4 2.6C, Radeon 9800XT, 1GB PC 4000 Ram. He obviously wants to OC, but he's never done it before. He's asked for my help but I've only ever used AMD systems. I was just wonder what the max safe voltage on air cooling would be. He'll be using a SLK 800U w/ TMD fan for cooling. Thanks for the help guys

You'll have to check it up somewhere but IIRC normal voltage for P4C is 1.525v with many people happy to push them to 1.625v with the hardcore o/c'ers around 1.75v. Whatever the stock voltage is you should use 0.05v steps (when a limit is reached) and then add a total of around 0.1v for normal (sane?) o/c'ers and around 0.2v for hardcore o/c'ers. Just rem overvolting carries the most significant risk, be certain your cooling is not limiting you before you add more voltage. The only real exceptions tend to be when the slower rated chips are undervolted as stock like most TbredB XP1700+ & XP1800+ were, not sure if Intel do that.

i'd say around 1.7 maybe a little more with good cooling.
