What's the deal with this motherboard then? I've heard it described as a 'refined' NF7-S, but what exactly does that mean, apart from the Guru chip?
Is it just an NF7-S with guru chip, or are there other changes?
Reviews are not easy to find...

Basically it is little more than an NF7-S v3.0 so to speak. IIRC by far the 2 biggest changes are Guru and a true implimentation of SATA (rather than a cludged PATA-SATA bridge design). We'll have to see how much it costs but I really can't see how it will be worth any added cost over NF7-S v2.0. Hopefully they'll have tweaked the layout, refined the awful NB fan and other minor irritances of the original board.
I believe it also provides higher voltages for overclocking, especialy to the ram (up to 3.2v) I only hope it does not have similar issues that its P4 Max 3 brother has with settings above 2.8v
Anyone got one then? What you reckon?

interesting thread
Looks like they made a mistake in the design of the board somwhere. It looks like its only a ground line - not sure though.
Has anybody know for certain whether the AN7 has a full SATA implimentation rather than an inbuilt PCI SATA card? Just wondering if the mobo has enough going for it as I don't think Guru alone will convince people to cough up the cash for SktA mobos.
Afaik, it uses the same Sil3112A as the NF7-S.
Was originally meant to ship with MCP-S but when that was delayed they shipped with MCP-T & Sil3112A.
Not worth it then.....

I know that nvidia and sis are all releasing new southbridges in the new year.... Basically includung S-ATA raid into the southbridge to compete with VIA. Anyone spot a more precise date?
And yeah, it's bit disconcerting that abit aren't answering the questions on inadequate ocing - obviously worth either getting the nf7-s 2 or witing till the new southB, as this an7 board seems to have got caught with its pants round its ankles and its dick in someone else's sock.
Easy now, F

Nice way of putting it funnelhead. That thread on the abit forum has settled it for me, just gonna buy an NF7-s for my new pc rather than risking the new AN7.
Same old Abit First Board Rev of the line always has something wrong with it.
If your looking for a new AMD Board Wait until VIA bring out the Dual Channel KT800 (i think thats what they call it.) You could also pick up the Abit NF7v2S after Xmas for £20.00 Less.
