come on, if you're OCing or have a new pc then do buy a nice psu.

but if thepcs worth £100, why blow half your budget? just get your pc a surge protector and imo its worth the risk.

    Ebuyer:
    Motherboard: A7V8X-X £43.87
Case & PSU : JNC 4JA Case with 300w PSU (several designs available) £~15
    Processor : Duron 1.6 266FSB £30.54
    Duron 1.8 266FSB £35.34
    Heatsink : Coolermaster XDream £6.26

    Crucial:
    Memory : 256Mb PC2700 Crucial £29.36
    512Mb PC2700 Crucial £54.04

The cheapest option there works out at £125.03 + Delivery (delivery from crucial should be free, but ebuyer will cost about £5-6).

The 300w PSU with the case should be fine, I ran a DFI Lanparty KT400a & XP1800 @ 2Ghz, few 80mm fans, 40Gb hdd, Radeon 8500 from one without a problem.

    That's what i'd recommend anyway .

tbh with ur budget and requirements, you could probably get a fair base unit second hand which would suit you, your gonna have to compromise on quality to get all the stuff you want new, and it may give you a lot of problems in the long run

Thanks for all the info guys I ordered my kit on monday should arrive fri from ebuyer went for the following.

1 x Coolermaster Premium Thermal Compound kit Retail 29906 Awaiting dispatch £3.57 £3.57
    1 x MSI K7N2 Delta-L SKT A 8xAGP DDR400 Nforce2 6ch Sound LAN USB 2.0 Motherboard 48751 Awaiting dispatch £46.38 £46.38
    1 x AMD XP1800+ Thoroughbred Retail Boxed Inc Heatsink & Fan with 3year Warranty 46309 Awaiting dispatch £36.99 £36.99
    2 x Twinmos (on Twinmos) 256mb Ddr400 Pc3200 Cl2.5 Memory 55335 Awaiting dispatch £27.51 £55.02

I in my opinion felt that going for some quality ram with tight timings and the XP cpu was worth the extra money as they are more powerfull components and everything else i have is more then suffecient for my needs also it would future proof me a little(my current dell brought 5 years ago for £1500 was state of the art only had to upgrade now due to the advent of divx it can still play warcraft III though) which i felt was important.

I have gone over my budget but i think it was worth it.

Now my final question i've read a few reviews of the board and while majority are positive there could be some trouble installing win xp i think due to the memory timings of my twinmos which is 2.5 if this is the case what memory timings should i use if xp won't install thanks.
