Core 2 Duo E6600

OK folks, I have just bought some of this and one of these.

So I was wondering does anyone know if the E6600 metal slug thing is made of? Will the liquid metal eat through it?

Also will lapping void any warrenty you have on the CPU?

If it's a retail CPU then you're voiding the warrenty just by using a different heatsink-fan.

The heatspreader on the CPU is nickel plated copper - but there's really no need to go as extreme as 'liquid metal' - ceramic paste is more than good enough for conroe chips

Don't use the liquid metal - eats through lots of metal - not just Aluminium

I'd very very wary of it as well - that heatsink may have a copper base but there's still lots of aluminium - touch that with this stuff and it's bad news..

Interesting read, but the guy did get it on the aluminium and it says it will pretty much kill anything aluminium if it gets on it, plus its a bugger to stop.

i had that on my opteron, and it got stuck to the HSF. i had to pretty much rip the oppy off it just to get the heatsink off. Its dodgy stuff if it dries in:\
