k weird one, my brothers scenic p4 baseunit looses time when it feels like it , like 1-3 hours. all the settings for time zone etc are right but still sometimes when u boot it starts to loose time indiscriminately.

If he uses WinXP (maybe 2000 too) and has an Internet connection (esp always on) Windows sets the time automatically according to an atomic clock on the net. From what I heard it can be very hard to stop it too. May or may not be the case of course.
Does it lose time when the PC remains on or only when powered off? It may also be time dialation if he set the date to some very distant date (y3k?) as this was common in the days of many old non-y2k computers.
