dual core amd or single core

i have decided against getting a core duo( for a lil while) and was thinking which is the best (monies tight) cpu i can get to go with my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe , i have a ati x800 gto, and some twinmoss ram,
im kinda stuck on wot cpu to get ? do i spend the £100 for a dual core 939 or £40+ for 3200-3700 (1mb cache) san deigo or 3800-3200 or lower (512kb cache) im not an expert clocker :/
help me make up my mind please

i just sold a lil system venice 3000+ and thought i would build up my intle p4 2.8 hyper threading (as chip was jut lying about) but i feel my venice core was quicker !!!
so im gonna go back to amd (price has a lot to do with it also, as cpu are at almost disposable prices, and i just couldnt resist

the 939 is the same price as a core2duo...it's worth the upgrade, really You can pick up a half decent board for 60 quid if you look around, or there might be some second hand ones on here for less.
