    Chance for upgrades...

My folks have decided to upgrade their Socket A system so I'll be giving / selling my old S393 3700+ to them.

Obviously they'll need a new motherboard and what-not (RAM, GFX, maybe PSU) to accommodate the chip so this gives me a chance to maybe upgrade my own system a bit.

My motherboard would be the first choice in the hopes of getting rid of my crazy RAM divider problem. I don't really need a higher overclock but hell, this 170's got more to give and I wanna see it.

I could either go for another AN8 Ultra (not that I can find any...) or something completly different, in which case, I'll need your recommendations.

All ideas are welcome, not just concerning the motherboard. Cheers y'all.

Why does the RAM divider give you problems?

I've run MemTest overnight with the RAM as it is now (221MHz @ 2.5-3-3-6 1T), but it's that damn DDR266 divider.

I would try and get a dfi ultra second hand (see them going around quite often) and then that will give you plenty of OCing potential.

I pondered over getting an Ultra-D a few months ago but I was majorly put off by their compatibility problems with Corsair memory.

From what I am seeing at the DFI Forums, this is not a general issue of Corsair, it is the Samsung TCCD ICs. So, if you have memory other than our PC3200XL or PC4400C2.5 then you should be OK as those are our models using the TCCD ICs.

    What memory do you have?

You should be fine with that if you chose to go with DFI. Since you have a 2 x 1gb kit, you do not have TCCD based memory. Also, if you want to verify your ICs used on your memory, have a look here:

Right, but MANY users of many different brands of memory using TCCD ICs had lots of issues. There are lots of threads on it at DFI Street including several specialized tuning guides.
