    Best settings for a 9600XT?

    Sorry for 'noobness' of the question, I know 'best settings' is a very subjective thing, but could anyone with a 9600XT tell me what settings they've found to offer a good tradeoff between performance and quality in LOMAC?

    cheers

    Something like this -

    Turn mirrors OFF in the cockpit (big FPS killer) but keep reflections on.

    Have a play around, but bear in mind Scenes, Haze, and mirrors are the biggest fps killers on Radeon cards.

    Here ya go m'laddo

    http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=...606&m=51210099

    Tbh with your rig I wouldn't have the draw distance the same value as nightime, Id prolly do something like

    L01 = 10000;
    L12 = 30000

    Anyway see what works best for you. Also patch up to 1.01 ASAP, (pm me if you want the no-cd)

    Thanks for the info guys, I have 1gb of ram so am gonna up the terrain preload. Have tweaked that setting in graphics.cfg already but looks like I got the number wrong.

    I've turned off 'application preference' for AA and AF, what setting should I use for those?

    Also, what effect does screen resolution have? I notice you've kept yours at the basic 1024x768 Skii

    Cheers

    My resolution is limited to that cos I have a 15" TFT and thats as high as i can go

    However - here is the beauty of Dx9 RADEON cards

    1. Uncheck application preference and up that Anti Aliasing to 6 X - watch how frame-rates are HARDLY effected ! (ctrl+backspace for framerates)
    leave AF as Application pref

    2. Up that resolution to higher than XGA (1024 x 768) to suit your monitor - framerates STILL not affected !

    Good innit

    No prbs

    Also - download LoMan - Lock -on Manager.

    Lovely little tweaking prgram that enables you to do finer tweaks to the game as well as install user made mods that improve framerates and gameplay.

    Have got LOMAN. Are the low-res clouds built into it or do I need to download them as an add-on?

    I'm not sure about the new one (Version 2) but I'd download them anyway.

    They have a whole new download section in v2. It's brilliant, everything is just there waiting for you to download and then install it straight away, all in a matter of seconds. Anyone who has Lomac should definately not be without this program!
