I saw a very old man...

... (no, it wasn't Zak in the Duxford MArlins group photo! )

....struggling to cross the road on my way home from work today, and he thanked me for slowing down for him.
This will probably sound a bit daft, but I couldn’t help wondering what his memories of the war were…..

I know IL2 is only a game, but it has really made me stop and think. What with that, and Duxford (which meant a lot more to me this time, having flown VEF/VWF etc) it just made me realise how very lucky we all are, how much we take for granted, and how grateful we should be.

Seeing that man today made me realise that it’s made me look at old people differently too, whether they were directly involved or not, they all lived through what must have been an utterly terrifying time.

S! to all those that lived through it…. and all those that didn’t.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.
