Re: Looking to buy a gaming laptop help!!!

    can you post a link?

The reason I'd stick with Dell is the screen quality is VERY good. Only apple do better, but they're not as good for gaming. No point having cracking GPU if screen itself is rubbish IMO.

I'm the same as you, I was going to get XPS17 but saving for the M17xR3 now as I realised I wouldn't be happy with the XPS17 limited graphics. (Although I much prefer its appearance and the fact you can swap the optical drive. The Alienware has a slot loader behind the fascia so much harder to change it)

Re: Looking to buy a gaming laptop help!!!

not had time to look for reviews on it, but going off the spec list and comparing to the Dell XPS17:

    Medion has:
    -Better price
    -Less RAM
    -Worse screen resolution
-Probably worse screen contrast/brightness etc given how good Dell's is though tbc if can find review
    -Better GPU
-It does have bluray drive but the screen isn't high enough res (on this configuration) to display full HD content
    -Rest of spec pretty tied
-The speakers in the Dell get good feedback in the reviews. Be interesting to see how the Medion's fare in the test reports (tbc)

What about the Gigabyte P2xxx something? Hexus reviewed it quite well, although that was when they thought the price would be £800. Now £999:

Not exactly a gaming laptop but...have you considered a hp dv6 core i5 system? they come with radeon graphics and can play todays games, (crysis included XD) Granted you cannot always put the settings at high but the thing plays them so well (i own it) and has an amazing battery life! im talking 2 hours + on battery gaming

I've not read the whole thread so excuse me if this has been mentioned already!

Re: Looking to buy a gaming laptop help!!!

it would be able to run most games out now, just not at full settings and possibly not even at 1080p depending on the game in question. It wholly depends on how much you prioritise the graphics, which according to your previous ranking, is quite high.

Solution, don't buy a laptop. It'll always cost you much more to get a gaming laptop, you'll also have more issues upgrading, maintaining etc.

I know a desktop is not always realistic, but they are better!!!!
