    C&C; Tiberium alliances

It is the latest C&C game, but with a totally different twist. Gone is mot of the fun, instead of a free2play browser based game that it requires more patience then anything else.

I have been playing it for a few days and find myself going back to it for 15mins here & there, but know that the first big attack that wipes me out I doubt ill bother playing it again. it is something i certainly would not want to pour money into it - namely because of the Ea badge on the front.

does anyone else play it? what do you think of it?

I haven't played it yet but have thought about it, though briefly. I have all the C&C games, C&C 4 kinda ruined the series for me so now looking forward to C&C Generals 2. C&C in a browser just doesn't feel the same, though have seen others (trying) to play it.

I am the same I have all the C&C games (love the Red Alert Series) and C&C 4 just ruined it for me and killed the magic of the series.

Andehh - Do you play other browser games? How does it compare to them? I used to play Travian quite a lot but some people took the game far too seriously and it just lost the fun aspect quite quickly.

    Re: C&C; Tiberium alliances

yeah, i am not convinced at all. They seem to have stripped out all that was cool & fun from the C&C series and turned it into a facebook game. The pace is forcible (noticeably...) kept very slow so that everything is stretched out over hours & days and the minute you start getting into it the game stops you from continuing without waiting hours & hours or spending lots of money. For example, every battle requires 13-20 command points, you only get 100 every 24 hours. So instantly you know you are limites to 30mins or so a day of the actual point to the game.

Combine this with the fact the battles consist of lining up your units to counter the enemies lines of defense then pressing go and watching what happens. Your units then have about 1minute to get as far into the base as possible (having battled everything in their single line path) until they 'give' up and get flown off. You then repair them, line them upo again and try and edge a bit closer into the enemies base, over and over again.

Repeat this again and again and you will eventually take out 1 or 2 enemy ai bases and then that's you all done for 24 hours.

Building your base is no different. You build refineries next to the ore, powerplants next to them then the silos next to them (group them all together of a bonus production) then you more or less never have to touch it again aside from upgrading them every few days to the next level. Only your construction yard is important to defend. Rest of the base can be re-built in a matter of seconds, so there is no real need to defend anything but your construction yard.

Not even the setting up of the base defenses is any fun... I am yet to be attacked so i have no idea how that feels but based on the fact i cant build any form of defense other then a wall & some anti-inf turrets and wont be able to for at least 1-2 weeks (based on my culmination of 'research points' being 1/5th of what I need to research the next defense item after 3-4 days of regularly picking up & playing) after my base looses its 'newbie protection shield' I imagine it wont be long before i log back in again and I am back to stage one.

I fail to see how this is meant to be fun or exciting _at all_ without pouring money into it or huge huge huuuuge amounts of time & patience. EVERYTHING is measured in days & hours which sucks any joy out of the game. You can feel your 'fun' being massively cut short in order to make the game 'last' and I hate that.

    Avoid avoid avoid.

    Re: C&C; Tiberium alliances

Yep low and behold within 24 hours of my newbie base protection shield going down I was wiped off the face of the earth! Lost all my resources and I had no chance as i would not have had enough research points to create any form of reasonable defense. I then effectively had to choose my relocated base on a generic map and the base was re-built for me (at half health for me to repair).

The way i see it is you must go through 2-3 bases with the regular 'raids' on local NPCs to build up the research points to research a decent defense.

Cant stand the game, could never ever see myself ever having the patience to play it for the 15-20 minute slots twice a day I am limited to each day!

[Note i gave up playing it a few days ago, i just wanted to see what my base was like now!]

    Re: C&C; Tiberium alliances

The game is more aimed gamers who play the usual free-to-play MMO games (i.e. Lord Of Ultima, Evony etc). If you like these games and want to try another take on these, this might be for you.

I play it, it's kinda fun. But as soon as they introduced POIs (buildings that if you control give you bonuses depending on how many you have an it's level) it highly imbalanced the servers. Not sure how long I'll be playing it for though.

The only thing C&C about it is the name.

C&C has been slowly killed off. Such a shame.
