Steam seems to think my current PC is a new PC... what's occured

    Lo dudes

I've just had a Steam Update and now it thinks this is a new PC , and it's not.

Have got the security email used the code and added the PC to my account.. but it's the same one

Anyone know where thre is a list of PC's on my Steam Account?

I get this every time I reinstall the operating system. It's no big deal though seriously. There is no limit on how many computers you can activate your Steam account on. It's just that it can only be run on one computer at a time. Maybe you logged into your Steam account on a friends computer or something....

Its just Steam Guard protecting your account. There is an option to deactivate all machines except the one you are using to be safe.

To do this go to Steam (Top Left dropdown) > Settings > Manage Steam Guard Account Security

Now the top option will be highlighted saying Keep my account protected using Steam Guard, under it is a check box with Deauthorise all other computers now. Tick that box and click next, then just follow wht it puts out and then restart the client and see if it has sorted the issue.

This, AFAIK. Seems pretty random as to when it turns up, too. I once had to do it twice in one night on my HTPC! I'm pretty sure it's cookie related though - so who's going to clear their IE cookies and see what happens?
