    Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon - Nvidia Surround - GTX 670 3-Way SLI:

This game is pretty doggone fun, and humorous to boot. However, as it's been mentioned, the tutorial part was pretty annoying when going back to play the game over. Thank God that they added an option to actually skip cutscenes (Enter AND THEN Escape). The game runs alright, but, definitely needs some optimizations via driver updates. I had to run all of my settings at low to get decent framerate. The game looks pretty much the same going from Ultra to Low. Just add some AA if you must, and SSAO pretty much makes up for low lighting/shadow settings.

Re: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

I've just completed this and it was fantastic from start to finish. I loved farcry 3, and being a fan of the movies this is inspired by I think blood dragon was even better.

I'm surprised by all the reports of poor performance. Granted I have a 7970 and the game clearly favours AMD but I ran at 1920x1080 maxed out (apart from post fx on low - I hate blur) and I was getting 70-80fps, sometimes even peaking into the hundreds.

I'm all for game developers doing this sort of thing, reusing assets ans engines to create a newish game and sell it at a knock down price. Well done Ubisoft!

Sadly no, can be run through in roughly 4 hours, 8-12 if you want to explore and take everything.

Re: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Smaller island than FC3 but still pretty big. About half, maybe a third the size at a guess. But certainly £12 worth of map. Not finished the campaign yet, just been hunting around taking garrisons etc. Really enjoying it though, grew up on 80's action movies. Loving the cheesy humour and as Cougho said, think it's great devs re-using assets to do something smaller and fun like this. They've focused on fun too, you don't start as a pathetic little thing with no guns/skills, you start as a super soldier with a bag full of guns and the ability to pee badassery and you only get badder. Refreshing change to starting as the skinny guy with a swiss army knife and building up, like every other open world game in a while.

Looking good on the triple monitors.

Re: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

I was instantly at home with the very first bit in the helicopter, mowing everything down, huge explosions and the same tune was used that the team of commandos had playing on the way to the drop off on Arnies Predator movie, absolutely awesome stuff.

Only played it for around an hour so far and just finished taking out the first base by setting the dragons on them. Love the look and feel of the game, so many throw backs to the 8 & 16 bit gaming era with the cutscenes, the VHS tracking on the loading screens and the bright neon which is reminiscent of GTA Vice City and also a fair few 80's movies and TV programs.

Then throw in Michael Biehn as the voice of the main character and you literally just can't go wrong. Still love the character Hicks from Aliens, he was a likable Badass but a shame they killed him at the very start of Alien 3.

Re: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

I'm glad others agree. For reference it took me about 6.5 hours to complete, and while I certainly didn't rush through it, I didn't worry myself about collecting everything either.

I did collect enough to get the most interesting upgrades for the weapons though - which I'd recommend, the shotgun in particular becomes hilarious to use once beefed up a bit.

Only thing I would say is definately play the game on Hard from the outset, strangely I found the tutorial section to be the most difficult - once the game opens up I absolutely steam rollered it on Normal and I don't consider myself any better than your average gamer.

Re: Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

I died a fair few times in the base after the helicopter drops you off after you do the stealth kill bits / training must admit! That area was pretty tough I found, even the interior had me ducking for cover and healing every few minutes or less!

Really enjoying it so far but will be keeping it on Normal Skill level. Last game I played on hard was Hitman Absolution and prior to that it was Gears of War 2 on 360 and GRAW 2 on the PS3. Just can't get away with first person shooters on hard, I manage Borderlands 2 on Normal with a few deaths here and there and its enjoyable, tried the True Vault Hunter Mode and even the missions that are showing as trivial I get my backside handed to me on a plate and I am at least 5 levels above the requirement!

Yeah first mission was toughest so far. Once you have the weapons upgrades can just walk in the front door with your anti everything gun(kobracon explosive rounds, love it) and run circles round them.

BL2 difficulty seems to have more to do with class than anything else. Commando/Gunzerker works well for solo play. Don't forget your golden keys; http://orcz.com/Borderlands_2:_Golde...st_Shift_Codes Crashing constantly on the latest patch for me though.

That will have something to do with BL2 then, I play as Zero and after the first shot with Sniper all but maxxed out you can't do enough damage by the time they reach you and you get mullied! Think I need to co op it a bit! My BL2 has a shimmering quarter inch black bar at the bottom of the screen since a recent patch, doesn't do it if I stream wireless to my TV with the Skyvision kit and it is the only game this happens so I know its not my hardware.

Shift codes I redeem as soon as I see them, I currently have 46 gold keys and I must have redeemed a good 10 or so over the last month to make sure I have levelled gear, got a great Hyperion fire sniper rifle.

Anyhows, back to Blood Dragon, I have read that once you start powering up your weapons it becomes really easy and you can obliterate anything in your path pretty easy including the Dragons. Need to get a bit more time in on it over the next few days.
