    Talking of Books...

For my birthday the In-laws got me a nice new BoB book. Also, As my mother in law works in an Oxfam shop she often comes across books she thinks I might like. So wrapped up with the brand spanking new BoB book was a rather tired looking book called "War Eagles".

Now I am no expert on books, but this looked like a first edition published (and no doubt printed) in 1943. So it's a contemporary account of Americans in the RAF. WOW I am captivated by this book. The language thats used contributions of those around the squadron etc.... and I am only on page 20!

Other book worms....I suppose you have loads of stuff like this?

I've got a copy of Fighter Pilot from its fourth print run in October 1941, a month after its first print run - no dust jacket though. Picked up for about 40p from a church feit.

Looks almost like a private publication..

    WAR EAGLES
The Story of The Eagle Squadron
    by James Saxon Childers
    Colonel, American Army Air Forces

    WILLIAM HEINEMANN LTD

    First Published 1943

    Book Production War Economy Standards

This book is produced in complete conformity with the authorised economy standard

Printed in Great Britain at the Windmill Press Kingswood Surrey

    10s.6d.
No numbers or any other publication details. Found something on the net that says it's worth £10 in good condition (which it isn't) and AMazon have two from $40, but these might be newer copies.

Edit :- Found that the 1943 edition is rare. Someone selling one for £125.

I guess average. The front cover has been protected in a plastic cover and has a a square inche missing on the spine. The book hard cover itself is in good nick and all pages are whole although aged. Looks delicate though.
