    day z mod

So i've finally gone ahead and downloaded it. It was quite good but my performance was pretty terrible(30 - 40fps). I think i stumbled upon a pvp server which was a horrifying experience lol.I've noticed that theres always a server reset time. Are there any servers that let you keep your stuff?

from what I've watched of yogscast:hybridpanda on his saturdayz series:

the server reset time is just to refresh the server, it gets laggy after a while with all the dead bodies, broken cars and things.
you get warned before there's a reset so find a safe spot and log off, you'll have your stuff the next time you log in.
any 'found' vehicles (assuming your playing on a server mode with them) will lock themselves after a reset, so don't put any stuff if them.
bought vehicles are fine, just park in an out of the way place or base you built, and don't lose the key.

all servers are pvp, that's the point of the game.

the best tip: keep shooting the body until you see a 'xxx player killed' message pop up in the chat. you can just wound them, and they'll fall over and look like they dead, but they are just knocked out, they will pop back up and kill you if you re not careful.

the axe weapon you start with (probably based on servermode) 1-shot the zombies, just hit them, and back off a bit until the server realises they are dead.
gun shots can be heard from hundreds of meters away and will attract things, nasty things that want your brains or loot.

theres loads of other stuff, but you'll find that out by playing it. have fun

My biggest problem is keeping up with those bars on the side. The temp one is always in the red and colour keeps going and trippy effects start to happen. How do you get warm?

I've rage quite twice since yesterday. I'm not sure if I like this game or not. Zombies are impossible to deal with. Are certain servers easier than others?

    Re: day z mod

im basing all my knowledge from hybridpanda's youtube videos. not played it atall.

OverPoch is a gamemode that has tonnes of guns and vehicles, even a loot/barter system. easier to find guns and deal with zombies, use silenced weapons so as to not alert everything.

incase you haven't noticed, there's a sound/visual detection system (I think its an 'eye' symbol on the gui) that alerts zombies and other people. you may see a small flash indicator when you see something in the distance.

the screen colours change based on how hungry and thirsty you are, don't think theres a temperature indicator. just eat or drink more stuff.
you can hunt the wildlife for food, no idea how to cook it though.

standard dayz mod is very hard, limited resources, you have to know how to survive and scavenge things. best just to stealth around the map using the visual/sound meters and hope you get lucky with loot spawns.

even if you know the map meter by meter, where every bit of loot spawns, even the zombie ai system off by heart, a fresh spawn noob will still kill you if you don't pay attention. death is inevitable, you will die to minor things like falling off a ledge, or tripping over a fence, best not to worry about it.

loot sometimes takes a few minutes to spawn in a new area after a server restart, don't assume there's nothing there if you don't find it right away. look under tables and beds especially in the barrack type buildings.

if I think of anymore tips i'll edit this post.

    Re: day z mod

Thanks for the game suggestion I think I will play exclusively on epoch. One of the reasons I'm getting annoyed is the over elaborate controls. I want to map everything essential to my controller. There is def a temp meter; I've googled it and found the dayz wiki and it states diff ways you can raise it(may be diff in everpoch).
