Little early christmas pressie for myself (56K beware, 100KB image)

.....thought I'd post it here where you flyboys would appreciate it.

The full 2 disc special, with DTS soundtrack and full directors commentary. I got it from Canada, for a total cost of......£6.50. Cheapest I've seen the R2 PAL version is £11.99. If you're patient, get it from DVDSoon, it'll take a while but it'll show up eventually.

Worst...film...ever! They expect us to pass Aggressor F-5 Tiger II's as Russian MiG-21's? What were they thinking!?

    <nerd mode> They reckoned they were Mig-28's actually</nerd mode>.

Of course it's all nonsense m8, if you actually watch the opening dogfight, there's no way in hell he could get in that close. The bit that blows me away is the bit where he goes up against Viper in the A-4, that bit is SOOOPERB.

Funnily enough Russia and her allies weren't that keen on Capitalist film makers from Hollywood using their MiGs for a Stars and Stripes waving feel good films in the mid 1980s. So I guess Tom and Kelly had to make do.

But it's still crap for lots of other reasons! Script. Acting. Direction. Paper thin characterisation (all that I can't get over the mysterious death of my Vietnam hero fighter pilot father in whose shadow I must live crap). Maukish sentimentality.

But it's also cool for having a character called 'Goose', a memorable soft rock anthem soundtrack, good action sequences (no CGI thank Christ - the good old days of special effects, do it for real), and for coming up with such memorable quotes as . . . wait . . .there must be at least one. . . ok. . .that's where the list runs out!

And moreover it is cool because it is ridiculous.

we discussed this film in media studies at college and if you look real close enougth though it has a lot gay bits.

For example the beach volley ball and all that man hugging and as Rave pointed out that guy who says "I want some BUTT, I want some BUTT right now!! LOL!!

LOL!! It was on BBC 2 yesterday, was cracking up at all thepropaganda lies, gay connotations and son...its good only because its so outrageosly rediculous...
