Anyone still play this? I've just started to play it again, good 'ol days.
The only one I have is CS:S. Never played GO. Is there much difference between the 2?
I got into playing this again recently - CS:GO feels much more like a fusion of CS 1.6 and CS:S (in a good way) rather than one or the other.
It's pretty good and enjoyable for a laugh and trip down memory lane, unfortunately the appeal for me wanes off rather quickly as FPS games and their complexity have moved on substantially since CS was released.
Picked it up in a recent steam sale, it's good but I fairly consistently finish last in any online matches. Certainly need more practice Guess I'm still trying to play it like TF2.
CSGO has really picked up in the past couple years! Used to play CS 1.6 and CSS on and off 10 years back but with the ranking system - I'm all about CSGO now!
I'm considering giving CS:GO a shot on PC at some point this year, I've played it a fair bit on the 360 and it's quite good it's own way. I do, however have some reservations after looking at the community hub/discussions on steam... little Russian kids screaming, hacking and this new deranking issue after an update seem to dominate the threads!

I've been mostly messing around on the Arms Race servers, Never seen less than 250k players online and always over 5k ready to join a game. Good fun and I can usually keep my K-D ratio over 1.0 in a game just a lot of the time you'll have people that are either incredibly good, or have incredibly sneaky cheats. Doesn't seem to be any sort of rank matching in the casual games so I find myself server hopping until I get a group of people who aren't cheating and don't seem like they could make a living out of it.
Have to see if we can coordinate a Hexus shoot-up at some point =]
The in game screaming from the kiddies, if your not in matches is easy to stop, you can use the following voice_enable 0 which turns off in game voice chat, so you can play in relative peace. Other than that it's just a case of ignoring the text chat.
Hacking, to be honest isn't "that" bad, I've got nearly 500 hours on the game and have only ran into 2 / 3 obvious hackers (all of which I received notifications for them having been banned) and all of them were in Match Making. And public wise, if I do run into someone I think is suspicious, then I report them, then leave the server. IMO its relatively easy to spot someone who is cheating on public servers.
The deranking is a pain in the back side, I came back after not playing for a while and was ranked Master Elite Guardian, won one game, drew another then lost one and got deranked...even the pro's are complaining about it

These guys are good!
I found this article on Overwatch anti cheating at Arstechnica for CS:GO:
http://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2016...ter-strike-go/
I'm all for banning cheaters as they decimate the game, but I do have concerns that very good new players might get banned. Some good players can consistently have robotic instant aim, appear psychic and still not be cheating.. at least on CS 1.6 and CS:S since I was one of them back in the day!
