That means nothing as they maybe setup to drop incoming ping packets to stop floods on the server ... you should know this or the fact that over 10,000 people all opening the same link at the same time is like a DDoS

No, I can't. I think we'll just have to be patient and hope that they sort things out soon. Thing is, once they're back up, it'll just get hammered again!

nadda ... zippo .. oh and a geeky style tracert shows that the hops near the signup server are either blocking ICMP or down as they are not responding as well.

Prob taken it down on purpose to stop the wow ingame servers being taken down due to new people starting - giving them time to calm down before end of work when 1000's more will be joining.

We are aware that some players are facing problems when creating their accounts, especially with regards to the process of payment validation. Due to the heavy load on the system, we are therefore forced to take those pages down temporarily. While the pages are down, those players who have already created an account can continue playing the game. We are investigating the situation and will come back to you with more information as soon as we have it.
