Anyone else enjoy Torchlight 1 and 2?

The Hexus item on ray tracing https://hexus.net/tech/news/graphics...e-ray-tracing/ does a lot of (game) name dropping in the demo video. Among these is a reference to a new “Torchlight: Frontiers”, which as someone, who really enjoyed Torchlight 1 and 2, about ten years back, is of real interest. (Those games included a developer of Diablo 1 and 2, which originally attracted my attention, as did the budget direct sales price)

Anyone else who enjoyed those games, might be interested in the beta sign up that I've just found on their website:

    https://www.torchlightfrontiers.com/en/about/

Hopefully use of the new and expensive Nvidia ray tracing video cards is optional though…

Re: Anyone else enjoy Torchlight 1 and 2?

I played through Torchlight 2 once, solo. Would have liked to have tried a coop attempt but no-one I knew was playing.
It was okay, but ultimately felt a bit shallow. There's a lot of kit but it felt more cosmetic to me. I think I was on normal difficulty and rarely did I feel a major challenge. By the time I was done I enjoyed it but not inspired to replay it. I forget the name but I played through as the gun-slinger class. Maybe the other classes make for a really different game, but I didn't feel like going over all the same ground again.

I would imagine playing with friends could make it much more enjoyable. The world/story felt most forgettable to me.

When the Torchlight 2 Multiplayer Beta launched I jumped on with someone on here (can't remember who off hand, might have been g0nzo?), and every now and then we get nostalgic at home and spend about 30 minutes crashing through a dungeon together before we've all wandered off in different directions and give up trying to actually co-op anything!

As to Torchlight itself, I dumped a lot of time into it in the first year or so when it came out, and I still install it every time I get a new machine, but nowadays I leave such long gaps between playing that I forget what half my powers do and which keys my potions are bound too, so it's rare for me to even finish a level before I get fed up and fire up Gems of War instead.

So, it looks like this will essentially be World of Torchlight? I'll keep half an eye on it, thanks for the heads up

You should try Path of Exile. Absolutely amazing RPG game, and best of all it's free. It's all about the co-op in that game!

    Co-op, in PoE? What?

It's most certainly not about the co-op... pretty much everyone I know, plays it solo..how games like PoE are meant to be played imo..

I loved torchlight. 10 years? Really??! I'm getting old.

edit: Oh. Online multiplayer world. Not so interested.

Extremely addictive combat and progression/loot, with a lot of well thought out ease of use features. Game world was (to me) fairly atmospheric too, which I enjoyed.
