Shadow Warrior Classic - Free to Play on Steam

Shadow Warrior Classic is currently Free to Play on Steam

I didn't put this in the deals section as I believe it is free for the foreseeable future.
They term it as 'Free to Play', as opposed to just 'Free'

I've never played it, I remember when it came out, but I uhm'ed and ah'ed forever and had way too many games to play at the time.
I'm going to give it a quick blast and find out what it's all about.

EDIT: As Ferrel noted, GoG are also doing this for free

Re: Shadow Warrior Classic - Free to Play on Steam

Yeah it's the same on GoG. They did a full / gold type version and then made the original release a Classic Free.

Anyone that owns the original Quake on Steam or GoG will also now see that they own the new remaster completely free

Re: Shadow Warrior Classic - Free to Play on Steam

Thanks, I'll put the link in the OP

I would probably say try the GoG version first, I had mouse issues on Steam
It's fiddly to fix but for those that want to use Steam this is what I found:

    1. Firstly, load the following file in your favourite text editor
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Shadow Warrior Original\gameroot\dosbox_swarrior_single.conf
      1. On line 13 it should be: sw.exe - Change that to: setup.exe
    2. Run the game from the Steam Launcher, you should now be in setup mode
      1. Go to 'Controller Setup' > 'Setup Adv. Control Options' > 'Adv. Mouse Setup'
      2. Change: 'Mouse X Axis' to analog_turning (mine was already set correctly here)
      3. Change: 'Mouse X Axis Scale' to 2.0 and 'Mouse Y Axis Scale' to 4.0.
      4. Save and start the game.
You may need to play about with the Axis settings until you are happy depending on your mouse setup.
    3. Once you've got a setup you're happy with re-edit the dosbox_swarrior_single.conf file
And on line 13 change: setup.exe - back to: sw.exe
