    Epic Game Store or Steam?

If I wanted to get a game that is available on Epic Game Store and Steam, which would people recommend? I'm not currently using either.

Are their any pros and cons I should be aware of?

Steam as it's more functional IMHO. Also check GOG too.

GoG.com is the best due to no DRM / other anti-piracy stuff, you can download the offline installer

Re: Epic Game Store or Steam?

Steam has a lot more features and is far more well rounded than any of the others.
For example on Epic there's no interaction with gamers or a workshop where you can download user created content such as maps and mods. The friends chat system on Epic is primitive, adding any friends is largely a waste of time, you would end up wanting to get discord as well.

But I don't have any issues launching or playing games with Epic. Recently been playing Borderlands 3 on there and had no problems at all.

Re: Epic Game Store or Steam?

Wherever it's cheapest. They're both just front end launchers. Anyone who has a rabbid preference for one over the other is bonkers. Also worth checking sites like:

    https://gg.deals/

That aggregate prices as it'll almost certainly be cheaper that either.

Thanks. Presumably if you buy from top list of official sellers it's legit?

I would have thought so. Usually though they'll provide you with a steam key or whatever. I guess if you buy it on plastic and it turns out dodgy you can just chargeback.

Re: Epic Game Store or Steam?

Steam for two main reasons. 1 - I've had a poor customer experience with Epic on purchases. Just not reading emails properly, not replying properly. Left me feeling completely out of touch. It's one thing to not be able to resolve an issue (due to dev problems) it's another to fail in communication with clients.

2 - I've had issues with games running properly in Epic or controllers not working properly, and yet if I add those games on Epic to my Steam library, I can launch them that way and they run fine.

Epic's launcher is just nowhere near as good as Steam.
