Why do people insist on using the official downloader? I'll never make that mistake again when I first bought the game it took over 8 hours to download the patches and apply them.

Bored of the old one, new one coming soon
suprisingly when i first got the game...it behaved very well and i managed to get all updates within 5-15 minutes ...the only hoirrible time is when the patches come out and everyone tries to get it at the same time, i love bittorrent as i normaly get my full line speed from torrents., they messed up their version, i think they should add a trackeless version of bt to their downloader if their trackers alone cant handle it.
Downloaded the 1.5 patch to my laptop in under 5 minutes a few days back using the official downloader. I think Xusen is right and their trackers just fall over on patch day.
pfft no BT is a horrible system like any p2p technology, and it was a huge mistake on blizzards part to use it (though I can see why they did)
Your right that everything falls over on patch day- but it shouldnt ever fall over, thats the point. We shouldnt be reliant on a fundamentally flawed technology..but thats going OT if you want to read more on it just search, theres a few discussions about how evil P2P is
lovin the new patch, can re-spend all my points now so that I can get rid of the crappy ones that didnt do much
BT falling over or webservers falling over. Take your pick really. It's difficult to provide an infrastructure which has next to no users 99% of the time and several hundred thousand 1% of the time without a lot of wasted expense.
The only way to do it reliably is to hire out someone elses servers/bandwidth so host the patch for 3days when the patches are released.Originally Posted by Butcher

Since patching the progess bars that appears when your casting/gathering/etc no longer fit in the frames they are above the frames and slighty out of line. Im running at 1280x1024, makes little difference if I turn all mods off, anyone else got this?
Looked ok last night for me.Originally Posted by TheBuZZard

Actually that fixes until you quit, when I load back up again I have the same problem. grrrrrr patch has slightly broken my lovely 1280x1024resolution
Its no show stopper just a little bit annoying.
The two problems I now get are
and
Hard to see but ther are odd birght blurry bits down the side of the screen, at first I thought my screen was bust but if I alt-tab back to windows its fine. Only had these issues since the new patch.
That thing with the bar is exactly the same as I get, but I don't get the strange pixels down the side of the screen.

To fix the strange colours at the side of the screen delete the WDB and WTF folders in your WoW directory, it worked for a few poeple on the official forums

Well I intsalled the 5.7 CATs but that gave me 15fps in STV so I reinstalled the 5.4s and the odd colours down the side are fixed.
