    l33t hax0r Rogue thread :)

    Hi all,

Well my hunter and rogue on ragnaros are doing well, level 29 and 30 now so Im moving along nicely.

I have got a rogue question though, theres alot of debate about Dagger or sword DW and I cant seem to make alot of sense out of the points made?

In rogues oppinions what is better for PvP and PvE? If i want sneak up behind someone and hit em with backstab etc it seems easy to do this and then switch to swords to finish off the fight?

Equally I favour dagger main hand and sword in off this seems to be the best tbh it allows you to gouge and backstab during the fight which is handy.

Or are dual swords just the best ? I can see dmage is high but u lose the burst effect of surprising some one from behind?

    any thought oh lovable rogues?

    cheers

I see what you mean about choice and I think Ill stick with dagger main and sword off but any arguments to the contrary would be nice

i have dagger in main and sword in off, mainly because ive got a metoer shard and another blue sword with +attack power on it.

id always go for main hand dagger, for backstab and ambush, as i based my rogue around sneaking behind clothies and killing them in 2 hits and then vanish back into thin air.... much fun

Yeah, I'm currently dagger/dagger. The off hand weapon doesn't really make any difference if it's dagger or sword, but I prefer the ambush/backstabing dagger rogue to the easy mode sword rogues
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

You've got a l33t rogue though with an epic mount! wish I had that sort of money but I cant seem to make any on AH Anyway Ive gone with dagger/sword but I must admit for grinding I just go 2 swords Im a bit staggered at the DPs of a sword rogue spamming SS its pretty cool

Cant wait for higher levels though where you can do somevery good stealth runs and infiltrating IF to gank some alliance will be fun Ah well another month I think at this rate but it will be cool

I have a sword/combat based rogue, level 56.. for grinding IMO combat is much easier as you are really just a warrior in leather.. you may not be able to take as much dmg as them but from full combat theres a real good chance that they can miss parry or dodge alot of attacks and the SS spam is VERY painful. at my level I can hit 300 - 450 on a normal SS and crits around 600 - 850 without a problem

Sword based rogues are my favorite, i tried out daggers for bout half of level 55 and found it to slow whiles grinding... (im a heavy grinder.. not to keen on quests..)

Ive never had any problems questing and can take out mobs 4 levels higher without my cooldowns, only using gouge and bandage half way though after that sinister strike and evis do the rest of the work

bandage - now thats a good use for Gouge I hadn't thought of doing that!! nice tip I dont find the weapon switch cooldown to be that bad either so swapping to swords after the gank really isnt a problem but dual swords is ace The rogue class is growing on me tbh, the hunter is fun but Rogue just has some cool possibilities ...

Rogues IMO are THE most fun class you can play AND being combat based and duel swords i found that i didnt NEED stealth to fight... stealth is just a bonus 3 seconds of damage to me but i can easily just sprint in to a pvp battle without stealth and come out ontop no problems

ive never really tried swapin from daggers to swords as i found that in my inital cheap shot i can pull off around the same damage as a normal ambush no problems and depending on the crits i can pull off around 1.2k - 1.4k dmg in the 1st 3 seconds stun so i never saw the point in weapon swapping

OMG.. gouge + bandage is what im best at with a 5.7 (i think its that) second gouge and 6 seconds to heal i can full heal myself of a gouge i also use gouge to build up combo points alot, gouge run gouge run gouge run SS SS evis its quite handy tbh

I love gouge its my favorite rogue skill without a doubt, i love it as theres no way around it, if it hits.. you are stuck for the set time and theres NOOOO way around it ^ ^ I think the best way to use gouge is when you have 4 combo points, use gouge for the 5th comob point, wait for your energy to get up a bit then evis or cheap shot for an extra 6 seconds of stun (cheap shot rank 2 i think)

I also think for PvP Imp Kick is AMAZING.. no rogues i know use this cept me -.- i LOVE killin mages.. mages are a challenge no matter what the i ALWAYS have a good fight with mages.. id say i win 60% of mage fights but i know a few good fights ive had with mages lastin 5 - 10 minutes (blink ftl..) my initial attack for mages is always cheap shot as normal, the using Kick for a 2 second silence which means they cant blink away which gives me a good 4 or 5 hits in and a good 40% health off the mage atleast (if they dont have mana shield on)

Rogues are my favorite kill the anger they emit after you garrott them for your starting attack meaning they cant vanish is fun and even more so when you use a 5 point rupture u really can just /wave goodbye to him

warriors = sap + run.. not worth the hassle lol you need god on your side to beat even a sh17 warrior ^ ^

Paladins are easy... kicks stuns and gouge whiles casting, evasion for his attacks wait for his bubble when he bubbles bandage yourself and repeat when EVER you see 'Immune' from a paladin find a way to heal yourself! if u just bandaged and your undead, eat the nearest corpse if there is one , just always try and keep your health above his

priests = free honor, shadow or holy, keep the stuns gouges and kicks in place and you can take down a priest 9 or 10 levels higher without a problem, keep in mind there fear tho, if your not ready when they fear you loose

warlocks = HARD, way to much health and if your fighting a demonoligy based warlock you can just kiss your ass goodbye, there health can amount to around 8000+ with the right talents not to say if they have there voidy all they need to do is sacrifce it and there my friends you have a paladin i tent to have a 50 50 chance of killing one

Some nice tips there as well

    - are warriors really that tough ?? I have a lvl60 warrior which I thought was rubbish in PvP, mind you on Arathor one of the main points of leaving is it was impossible to get any PvP going, in 2 months I only managed 2 sessions of Alterac which was really poor, a PvP server at least allows you to go out and find trouble..

Garrot as well hadnt realised that stoppped vanish

If you have time whats your build roughly?

I've got along way to go but it would be useful to start in the right direction now

Garrott doesnt exatly stop vanish but AFTER they vanish (depending on timing) the most invisiable time they get is 2 - 3 seconds which you really cant get anywhere there its really handy when you are fighting a rogue higher level then you tho

Warriors can kill me no problems now... i use to be able to kill them around level 40 - 50 but now no matter how much i stun and shove our damage they stick kick my ass as i say, if i ever get in combat with a warrior i vanish and sap then run i need to get a bit more practice in before taking them head on

Talents are not set on stone at the moment, theres a few tweeks needed to be made like imp sprint and sap (they are purely for lazy and fun values at the moment ^ ^)

Yea the combat rogues are very good PvP and PvE

I LOVE adrenaline rush bring able to use a 6 second cheap shot and a 5 combo evis just after the stun wares off is amazing ^ ^ and blade flurry = noob slaughter house ^ ^ jump in the middle of bout 6 or 7 lower levels, hit blade flurry and Rush then spam SS and after 10 seconds, /point and /laugh at all the corpses around you

Combat / duel swords is defo worth a try for all the dagger based main hand rogues.. the damage easily over does daggers without a problem and in PvP you can hammer em ^ ^
