oh wot!!!
Admin Abuse.
I have to admit, my take offs have been limited recently.
CS has really grabbed me since the release of 1.6, I seem to be doing really well again.
I'll dust off the flying goggles and get my shed back in the air again soon.
Do I need to update to 1.2 beta patch? or leave as is?
leave as is for now matey.. the Marlins and GSV dedi servers are still running 1.11 afaik

Had that baby up to 1040kph and the wings stayed on! Totally blacked out in the climb out though.
Dak, the rate of turn seems to be best at about 270-290 knots.. either side of that it slooooows right down. Give it a go, it might just be me but it seems to come round quicker at those speeds.
Of course, nothing out turns the A6M... perhaps maybe the I-153, but then that plane could out turn a hummingbird!
Problem with the Stang turn as I see it is its a total black out machine over 340kph, and if you drop speed to 280 - 290 which I agree works then at the Alts you fight in a P51 your a sitting duck. Any thought people may have had on the P51 owning servers are in for a shock though. The OKL have learnt to fly higher LOL. Had some awesome 5 to 7 k DFs last night
Hmmm that isn't so good - thats Mach 1 , something a prop plane would never be able to reach.Originally posted by Deckard

No I believe you m8y, I got it up to 900-ish before I ran out of sky, but over 1000kmh in 1 piece - nah - it ain't modelled right, surely, and if it is, the P-47 should be even quicker in a dive.
Aren't there accounts of some of the spitfires going supersonic in extreme dives?
I'm aware of accounts of Pilots experiencing extreme buffeting at speeds approaching Mach 1 , but to my knowledge no prop plane ever 'broke' it, much as I'd have loved us to do it rather than the 'Godlike' Mr Yeager, I'm pretty sure any Spit would go boom before making a sonic boom.Originally posted by Knoxville

You mean a sonic splinter?
Set yerself up a Quick Mission, starting height 10000 then do a full power, trimmed dive, about 65 degrees nose down... you'll hit 1000 kph at about 3000m.
Just a question, but the speed of sound increases the higher you go due to the density of the air being less, doesn't it? If so, then perhaps 1000kph is do-able as there'll be less air resistance.
Yeah the higher up, the more its 'do-able' , but in order to reach such speeds at such a height, your going to need something more than a propellor. At such an altitude the air is thinner and there is considerably less resistance and friction on the aicraft involved - Concorde wouldn't be able to do Mach 2 at sea level.Originally posted by Deckard
