OK...failed so far for a Vid Card Deal

Have failed to get a good enough package from anyone.

Simply put...SHALL I CONTINUE? I am well up for it, the intertia aint gone from my end, so I will, if Marlins want me too. I enjoy hunting a deal down

I have failed to ge the Geforce 4's I was hoping for. (well I can get them, but bigger dough than I think is ace value)

So will make a bee line for a deal on Radeons next. Aiming for 9000 Pro's 64mb OR 9000 OEM's with 128mb onboard.

    Anyone interested?

What sort of price are we talking that's "not so ace" ya never know, we might not be so exacting as yourself, and lets face it - Hat and me certainly will want to keep the cards as ANYTHING will be a vast improvement over what we got at present.....

This place often have 8500's for about £30 a piece or less

    http://www.retekdirect.co.uk/acatalog/Video_Cards.html

    Keep an eye on it.

The 8700 they have is basically an 8500.. Just a bit more optimized for OpenGL.

The 8500 and 9000 pro are about the same performance.

I think you should just save up a bit and pick up one of those Radeon 9700 Pros for £150, will last you a lot longer...

not always as easy as it sounds Nightshade my man. Besides.....£50 to £80 will vastly improve those basic cards performances.

9000 pro will not really be a noticeable difference to warrant an upgrade. You really need to be looking at 9500/9600.

9000 Pro runs similar speeds to your 8500 Trigster.

250 core and 550 mem is normal.....so while it is fractionally more modern silicon, its not much better.

Josh my old fruit...that card is what Iused for the image quality thread.....its not a fast card tho...not by any means.

Its a core of 200 and mem of 200DDR (so 400)

It plays IL-2 at 1024x768x32 tho, with no hassle....just not with Fuill Screen Anti Lollipopping and AuntiSusans Coffeee Filtering

Well I cant play anything in 1024x768x32 or the card locks up in about 5 minutes, I can play in x16 for a bit but then I get my kaledescope thing going on, and yet I can play CS at 800x600 forever and its fine...
Have tried drivers have tried AGP modes have tried extra cooling all to no effect

Trig.....LE's should run 250 core and 250 default......

the Retail versions run 275/275 default.

What you got yours at? 1024x768x32 should be fine.....unless its borked
