    The New Flickr

This argument is already raging on other forums, but would like to hear he views of the Hexus lot. Love it or Hate it? I personally dont mind it, I understand the impotance of websites like this moving with the times, and in a mobile age they need to make changes like they have done. However, I think the new Pricing/No new Pro accounts, and they way they have handled the situation has been a bit of a disgrace, and very confusing...

    But 1TB...

Shame they are still stuck on jpg. Would be tempting to use them as a form of archival.

    How much room?
    What sizes etc?

Some actual information might make your post useful.

About the OP, I don't mind the look, and the 1tb free is very nice in my opinion.

Lightroom has a plugin interface that I'd imagine would allow it quite easily.

The question is, would you want too.

Interesting quote from Flickr CEO Marissa Mayer:

(http://www.thephoblographer.com/2013...apher-anymore/) Bet that goes down well...

I don't mind adverts, and would still pay for Pro even if it had advertisements on it. I pay for Pro for the other features such as Unlimited space, Replace Photo and Stats. Cant understand why they are doing away with these features?!

    Re: The New Flickr

Well it's kinda true isn't it.

How many people can afford a D800E who aren't Pro?

Yet how many people who consider themselves 'Pro' don't own a Medium or Large format 50megapixel type jobbie that produces very big files.

I have found it very funny how the Photography part of the internet, people label themselves a professional if they are just doing it for a lot of their time. Few industries I know do that.

From an image hosting service, they have never really been aligned to helping sell services of their users, merely monetizing their users. In short they have never helped those who do it for a living, differently from those who take pictures of their cat.

You do not need to own 50MPixel cameras to be professional (IMHO). You need to be making your living, or at least a very considerable proportion of it, from your work. And implicit in that as requirements are skill, competence and a professional approach.

For instance, I know one photographer with an international reputation, a fully staffed studio of people doing post-processing and printing, and a very considerable corporate and magazine client base, and the camera equipment has always been 35mm film evolving to standard full-frame DSLRs.

Huge file sizes are appropriate to some types of pro photography, perhaps most notably high-end magazine work like fashion, but is neither necessary nor even always desirable for other types .... like my friend, whose speciality is all sorts of stunning underwater photography.

As for Flickr, be it 1TB, 1000TB or a Gazillion TB, matters not to me, personally, because I don't put my photos on the net, and if I did, it'd be on a gallery site under my direct control, not Flickr.

    Re: The New Flickr

I think you miss my point. I am saying that in respect to the service flickr offers, they have never treated pro users differently, expect with regard to storage space.

They don't help in the workflow of the business.

They don't have a sales platform.

They don't offer anything besides image hosting and socialnetworking discovery.

What is a 'pro' feature in that list.
